One day I was finishing up a minor kitchen remodel (new sink and faucet, some tile and counter surface work), as I was sorting through the aftermath, I collected the odd washers and screws and whatnot, including this curious small washer with a raised ring around the center which I couldn’t identify, and put them in my trusty odd lot jar in the kitchen drawer.
FF 4 years, and our simplehuman dish rack, which has this clever little spout that drains into the sink, started leaking at it’s drain hole. Taking it apart I saw that the washer for the connections was shot, and so I started digging through the collection in the drawer, and, whatayaknow, that odd little washer I saved long ago fit in there perfectly and saved us having to spend another $75 for one of those racks.

Keep them, but like all things that are lost I can only find them when I’m looking for another lost thing.
I wonder how many years of our lives are spent looking and not finding. Kind of like the tv series LOST, that’s 6 yrs I’ll never get back.
@growyoungagain when i am searching for something, my mind imagines somewhere there are observers (like I’m in the movie Truman, or by an advanced civilization who created Earth to keep us as pets/science experiment) who can see where what I’m looking for is. Like when watching a movie where the audience has the perspective of the camera is under the couch showing the keys and looking out to see the person kneeling down but not at the right angle that they can see the keys. When i come close but don’t find it, they are yelling at the ‘screen’ '“awww, it was right there!”

When I do it right I put the parts in a baggy with a post-it of the relevant info. Gotta keep track of all those Ikea hex wrenches!
