To elaborate, the insulated bit was due to some idiot’s really terrible job he did building his own house that featured insulated stairs for some reason, among other things. It didn’t pass inspection so he got his own inspectors license or whatever and pass it himself. This twitter thread covers a lot of it:
I do have stairs. I have stairs that lead to my front door (my home is referred to as a California Split, which made me laugh when I bought it, since I lived for many years in California, and never ever saw this design there. The front door opens onto stairs that go up to the second floor, and down to the first. There’s a landing also.
I have stairs that go to the deck in the back, and I made them two tiers as well. I designed the back deck, and it was a bit of work to find someone who would build it. Most of them just had stock designs, and I found them…unattractive.
I like having stairs. I used to joke that I bought a house with stairs because it was the only exercise I would get in the winter.
None of my stairs are insulated, although the inside ones are carpeted.
@madamehardy I am literally the only one who got it, the vast majority of meh users are casual Internet users who got into it from thier phones probably around 2007. They’re not going to understand most of the classic funny jokes. Also you and me are the only ones who have even heard of somethingawful

It’s just sort of how it is that what brought most people into the internet was the smartphone in 2007. Was both a great and terrible year for the Internet.

AOL unlimited barely did anything to the Internet in comparison to 2007, I lived through it and all my local BBSs barely had a traffic increase.
2007 though, every website I knew suddenly went wild, Facebook became public, tons of forums got flooded and no one knew proper etiquette for whatever place they were logging into. Internet useage skyrocketed in a bigger jump never before seen.
Anyway, we’re done here. Have fun googling half of what I said.

We grew up in a one floor house, but our current townhouse has stairs. Inside, not insulated (other than the carpet), and no way should kids slide down the bannisters… these stairs were built by Fine Union Craftspeople of Knowledge, ill-annoy branch.
They wobble and creak and make loud popping noises when you use them, and cold air from outside moves freely beneath them and through the carpet (the same people built the actual townhouse).

I have stairs to the bonus room over my garage. They are inside, so I don’t guess they are specifically insulated themselves but they are insulated in the way that the rest of the house is. Except maybe the part that cuts into the top corner of the garage, maybe that part is, maybe it isn’t.

I prefer a house with stairs, but my wife prefers a single level. My son really wants them, and he says our previous house was better because it had them.

I can tell you from experience a good chunk of the original Woot developers had/have SA accounts but clearly not so many customers are protected.
