I actually kind of enjoy it when it’s for someone else. When it’s my own space, it often feels repetitive and hopeless, cleaning up the same mess, day after day.
@rinrinrin@yakkoTDI My “weeds” are big thorny blackberry vines that grow everything if you neglect them. Which I allowed them to do. So they are terrifying all year-round. But just for a week or two each year, also very delicious.
@pmarin@yakkoTDI Blackberries are a great kind of weed! free fresh summer berries! (though my wild black raspberries are tastier than my wild blackberries).
@yakkoTDI weeding around cactus sounds terrifying indeed. Oddly enough, we have a few species of cactus native to the east coast (I’m in MD), but no one uses them in their gardens the way they did when I lived in TX.
It would be more satisfying, at least, if I didn’t have kids who followed me by messing up everything I’d just cleaned up and who refuse to do squat to help
@guyfromhawthorn@Kyeh I used to change the password on my router by one letter to block my kid from using it on the computer and confiscate her phone as a consequence for certain behaviors. She also had the honor of learning how to do her own laundry in 4th grade when I told her if she cleaned up her room by putting her clean clothes in the hamper she would be doing her own laundry. I had to lock up her dirty stuff as she started re-wearing dirty rather than ask me how to use the washer. I told her she had clothes (she hated) in the closet or wear her nightgown to school, didn’t matter to me (I had called her teacher to tell her what was up). She finally capitulated and learned how to do her own laundry. By high school, surprisingly, she even liked to do her own laundry because she told me I did her stuff “wrong”.
I do like to clean when I have the right tools to do it. I’ve been praying to the meh gods that they would send me a shark (or comparable) stick vacuum w/ the detachable Dustbuster in an IRK so I can enjoy to clean my couch, stairs, Curtains, car and floors. I would LOVE that.
@Star2236 I see what you’re beggin’ fer there. But what if you have a house full of vacuums but you still never use them because vacuums are annoying and loud and scared the cat when I had one? And is still my excuse even though I don’t have my old cat anymore.

After 50 years of cleaning this house, I hired a house cleaner a few months ago. OMG!!! It’s so fantastic.
I find pressure washing stuff quite satisfying (for about the first 30 minutes or so). Similarly, I don’t mind (limited) vacuuming of rugs or carpet.
@macromeh I love pressure washing. I once got to spend almost two weeks cleaning a warehouse floor for the new tenants.
