You know what bothers me? When something common that I’ve had for years breaks and I go to replace it and can’t find that one simple ordinary item because it’s been discontinued for “fancier, better” styles which aren’t! Like this Ekco spaghetti spork thing:
Which I can’t find anywhere except eBay, because all the ones being sold now are silicone or metal or wood, but they DON’T WORK AS WELL! The spaghetti slips off our slides through the big hole in the middle, etc.
@Kyeh I would like to suggest spaghetti tongs. They have claws, but are also tongs. I originally got them as part of a set and they work great.
The set I have is just like this one spaghetti tongs set
@remo28@gt0163c@Pony
Thanks for the suggestions - I already bought a couple on eBay, but good to know there are some others that actually work. I had bought a silicone one and it was useless!
@Kyeh The whole Ekco line of kitchen utensils are/were amazing. I got several out of my grandma’s kitchen when she passed. Eventually they break. I scour estate sales and thrift stores looking for replacements all the time.
@ironcheftoni@Kyeh Confirm on Ecko. I have a 40-year-old pancake flipper from them that is superior to any sold for home or commercial use today; the flat blade is very thin spring steel, and gets under things that the plastic crap just mashes. I mostly use it for skimming the cookies off the baking sheet when they’ve cooled a bit.
Two of the utensils have big splinters sticking out, all of them are very rough. Seems dangerous, they’re all going in the trash. Anyone else have this issue?
@callow@tofarber I’m going to sand mine as well; thanks for alerting me to how rough they are. No splinters, thank goodness, but not very well-made, really.

@Kyeh Amazon has some melamine ones. That’s what I use, and I like it.
@Kyeh What about this one: https://www.amazon.com/Rite-Size-Spaghetti-Copolymer-Resistant-Professional/dp/B09NS1Q446/

@callow
Mine were a little rough, but I think serviceable. This is the worst of them, which I think I can smooth out.

No spurtle, no deal.
