Death to microfiber sheets!
18I just don’t get why these sheets are so popular. I hate the way they feel and they don’t seem very durable . I know, I know…”they don’t wrinkle” or “they come in so many prints.” Who cares? You cover it up with a comforter anyways.
Anyone else feel this way?
Can anyone convince me otherwise?

I like a nice crisp cotton sheet myself, especially in the summer when it’s been hung on a clothesline to dry.
Gotta be cotton or linen.

got suckered intobought felt okay until the humidity dropped and I started waking up with nightmares of being smothered. Low humidity caused static. I like a cozy duvet, but I want a well-behaved one. I do not want it to wrap itself around me in a stranglehold and refuse to let go. The linen covers have never tried to kill me in my sleep.@rockblossom This! I have microfiber sheets which are soft, comfortable, and not overly hot but I can’t move! The top and bottom sheets glue themselves together and I wake up every time I try to roll over.
I love how smooth they feel.
Happily got rid of the microfiber sheets and went back to cotton a while ago but now they’re worn out. Where do I find some decent sheets again?

Actually I have found decent ones in Olies and other bottom of the heap, just like meh, discount stores on occasion, sometimes it’s on rare occasion. Those, at least, I can touch and feel prior to buying. Also Bed, Bath and Beyond with their endless supply of 20% off coupons can work out well too. Of course I don’t care about wrinkles but do care that they are cotton. Also 6 or so washings later IKEA ones aren’t stiff anymore and those can be cheap when on clearance (but color choice is limited and the pillowcases are weird - they have that pocket opening).
@callow They aren’t cheap, but I have been very happy with Kohl’s “Simply Vera 600 TC Supima Cotton” sheets. Own two sets now, will probably get another for guest bed. There are no microfiber sheets in this house. We sleep too hot for that mess. Link

@callow @Kidsandliz @KNmeh7 @rockblossom I prefer the Pure Beech - 100% Modal ones (not jersey) from Bed Bath and Beyond with the 20% coupon. Not terribly expensive but smooth and soft. I use year round (for over 15 years) and they are fine in summer or winter. Prices have gone up recently but they last a long time and this modal quality is good.
@asplus How do they hold up through washing? Beech modal feels wonderful, but some brands have a problem with shrinking or becoming misshapen unless they are treated like silk and washed separately. Great choice if they hold up, as modal is more environmentally friendly than cotton.
@rockblossom That is exactly why I mentioned that this 100% beech modal quality is good. (Make sure you don’t get the jersey one).
No problems with washing or shrinking (cold wash) and mine have held up 10 years. I am on my second set now. I just bought a third set in case they stop carrying them.
Eventually they will wear out. Some reviews have said that they wear out quickly, but I have had no problems. Mine wore out where my heels were digging into the sheet (nightmares maybe?). The elastic does lose its stretch but the sheets are deep enough to tuck under the mattress, unless you have a really thick mattress.
Completely!!! Microfibers sheets are evil and made by the devil. Nasty to sleep on, make you sweat, hold germs and odors. YUK!

I bought a couple sets of a really popular brand on Amazon years ago that I’ve used exclusively, alternating between them, which are really smooth/silky & very durable. If it weren’t for a couple of small tears on the seams of the pillow cases (caused by oversized, heavy shredded memory foam pillows being stuffed in them), you wouldn’t be able to tell how old they are. And I don’t have any problems that others often mention with overheating/sweating, but for someone who suffers from night sweats, etc, they are very quick-drying, so I would think that might be helpful…?
Do you think if they were any good, Meh would be selling them?

The Beats I got from meh were real, at least. One can argue whether they are good, but at least conventionally they’re better than… dare I say… meh?
Last year, I found fantastic 600 TC 100% cotton sheets on WOOT! I bought the first set, bought another after I checked them out, and bought another two after that for gifts. They truly were a unicorn of sorts. They are supposedly going to have them again soon, according to the mods.
I hate them. I like jersey sheets in the warm seasons, and flannel in the winter.

Whenever Meh posts a deal for them I assume they’re doing it just for me. Everyone else seems to hate 'em.
Down with Microfiber anything. The reason they are so popular is that is all that the 98% can afford. We have no middle class in this country any longer. I grew up sleeping on cotton percale sheets, now they are cost prohibitive for the working poor. Bla Bla Bla
I liked them for a while. Especially because they were really cool in the warm weather months and during personal summer times. But eventually, they start wearing thin and pilling.
100% cotton is the way to go. I HATE sleeping on polyester!!
