Cinoclav's Field of 32 Day 21
16I’m sorry I didn’t save yesterday’s definition of ‘annihilation’ for today. I Googled “what’s worse than annihilation” but all it returned was synonyms. Obviously Google isn’t familiar with Meh T-Shirts. To paraphrase Chris Berman: They-could-go-all-the-way! While I haven’t actually been tracking the highest number of votes per item, I have no doubt the Shirts take the top spot with their 40-7 fluffing of Pillows.
Today we have another big winner from round one. Funky Socks are back to see if they can funk up the Comforters. This is a contest I really wish we could have thousands of people vote on. I feel like Funky Socks have a very specific following here on meh. They have a uniqueness about them compared to some of the other items we’ve seen and that’s how fans are created. But Comforters are more commonly found in every home and they’re something the masses are more likely to desire. If I was a betting goat I’d wager that the larger the crowd the more likely Comforters would win. But this is meh, and only a small handful of mehtizens will be shaping the next round of this tourney. We’ll know in a day what you very special people prefer.
Let’s kick off this Sunday with some poetry for no other reason than I felt the rest of my post was kind of boring. Feel free to submit your own Tournament of 32 inspired limericks.
You might want Funky Socks for your feet,
Or a Comforter to give you some heat;
Only one can move on,
The other is gone;
Soon Bubbas or Spinners they’ll meet.

Funky Socks!
Comforters!
Some funky socks or
A comforter for the bed;
Neither choice is good
@nolrak Did I say haiku future goat?
@cinoclav
You did not say this
But following directions
Is not my strong point
As far as the goat,
Goathood seems to suit you well
How 'bout two months straight?
@nolrak You see, it’s those kind of comments that get you nominations.
Just in case you need a reminder of where things stand:
As I sleep I am cozy in socks
They poke out of my covers like Glocks
It rhymes but it’s dumb
But I’m under the gun
So this limerick is bad but has mox(ie)
Nice lymeric, clearly you are a cunning linguist!
@tinamarie1974 Is that anything like a Lime Rickey?
@tinamarie1974 if you think he’s a cunning linguist, you should see how great @cinoclav is at being a master debater.
@cinoclav @KittySprinkles
/giphy I see what you did there
So first I was not into the funky socks. I bought them a couple of times and find myself really liking them. My favorite ones are the spider/web and squirrel socks.
Go sox!
@mfladd is this a baseball pitcher reference? There was some pitcher who got his ankle all fucked up, with blood and averything, it he kept pitching. What a goddamn fool.
Sheeeewt, I feel like he might have even played for the Red Sox?! God damn but sports people are insane…
@mfladd @UncleVinny Yes, that’s totally a Curt Schilling reference. For the record, fuck Curt Schilling. Even though the majority of his career was spent here in Philly, he’s turned into a complete psycho.

@cinoclav @mfladd @UncleVinny
WHY WEREN’T WE TOLD ABOUT THIS???
@cinoclav @therealjrn @UncleVinny He can be as batshit crazy as he wants now. I will always remember that he was an integral part of breaking the 86yo Curse of the Bambino and helped Boston win it’s 1st World Series in 2004. Being a sports fan, being able to watch your team win their very first major championship is pretty great. Crazy on, Curt!
@cinoclav @mfladd @therealjrn @UncleVinny
He also founded 38 Studios to develop the video game Kingdoms of Amalur and then pulled the plug a few weeks after it released and bankrupted the company. The game was actually decent and there was a lot of buzz before it launched, and may have been profitable, but not after Curt tanked it.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdoms_of_Amalur:_Reckoning
Not exactly the best time to give up on something you’ve put so much effort into.
Kind of like the 2004 Cardinals World Series performance. Maybe that’s where he learned it.
P.S. I was there at Game 4. They folded like a cheap Meh comforter.
Vote for the socks!
@mfladd @UncleVinny Oh, he is a goddamn fool, but not for anything he did on the pitcher’s mound - he could’ve been a hero for eternity if pitching was his only legacy.
Unfortunately, he had to keep opening his fool mouth and letting the stupidest, most ignorant shit pour out.
He also had to go and start a foolish vanity project, making a video game which, amazingly, had a lot of potential - it’s unfortunate it was being made by a moron of an athlete instead of someone who knew how to successfully develop and market video games.
He bankrupted that company and defrauded the state of Rhode Island to the tune of ~$75 million.
You’ll currently find him spewing alt-right, extreme(ly hypocritical) Christian fundamentalist socio-political horseshit on social media and listed alongside Pete Rose and O.J. Simpson under, “How to Destroy Your Pro Sports Legacy”.
There have long been rumors that the “Bloody Sock” was faked.
In 2004, most Red Sox fans thought that was absurd; in the years since, it’s become a lot easier to believe.
edit: BTW - I know someone who worked for 38 Studios while they were in Maynard, MA. When Curt pulled up stakes and moved the company to R.I., my friend had a really hard time deciding whether or not to uproot his family and follow the job. He made the right choice, some of his co-workers weren’t so lucky.
@mfladd You got a couple of things wrong there…
It was not their very first major championship/World Series, it was their first since 1918, which had been their 5th.
Also, Curt Schilling can go fuck himself regardless of what he accomplished on the mound.
@DennisG2014 @mfladd @UncleVinny
You forgot Mark McGwire, Sammy ‘Corky’ Sosa, Barry Bonds, and lastly, Albert Pujols’ move to the Angels. There won’t be a statues to any of them outside their home stadiums.
@DennisG2014 Thank you for the correction to saying 1st. It was what I meant by saying 86 yo curse.
As to your deep dislike of a bat shit crazy pitcher…

Socks get my vote. I won a pair of Meh socks with the branding on ‘em. They were terrible. Thin, shapeless, garish. But…I’m 1000% more likely to buy funny socks than I am to … wait a sec! Does my weighted blanket count as a comforter?! Cuz that thing is amazing…
Nah, I’m still voting socks. They are waaaaay more Meh.
@UncleVinny They feel good… like I knew that they would…
Since I’m paraphrasing today.
I voted for Funky Socks last time, but I find myself on Team Comforter today. I’ve bought two or three comforters whereas zero socks, funky or not from meh.
Dammit. We’re going to be crushed and laying flat as a…as a…um…
@therealjrn …crushed fox? (Sorry, I’m an animal lover but hey, it works.)
This was a tough one. I haven’t bought either, nor am I likely to, but because funky socks are only sold in “normal” sizes, I voted for comforters.
Yay, Funky Socks!
And what says funk more than a Canadian Ice Skater performing to music by a bunch of white guys from Ohio?
Funky Socks got off on the right foot but Comforters have taken the slight lead. It’s a close one!
Ooh, Socks are back in the lead.
I cannot believe this race is so tight! Socks are so versatile. You can obviously wear them on your feet. But off the top of my head, you can use them as a dust mit, or maybe use them to tie someone’s wrists should you have the need
/giphy tied up
@tinamarie1974 Yeah but a comforter…well…it’s comforting.
@tinamarie1974
Sorry, I was picturing you with a sock on your head…
/giphy spit take
Dammit giphy WTF
@tinamarie1974
/giphy spit take
@tinamarie1974
Well folks, you overnight stragglers have the opportunity to vote. I’ll update in the morning with the hope that I’m not the tiebreaker.
And now it’s tied up …
@stolicat And Funky Socks are back up by 1.
Going to do my best to turn this one over at midnight EST, so get those votes in while you can!
@cinoclav done. Dead heat again.
YW!
I’m a bit disappointed in the lack of limericks.
@cinoclav
A Limerick can make you mad
And you may feel like you’ve been had
Take that as a sign
It ends on the fourth line
Twenty minutes til I make an attempt to post the next matchup. Get those votes in if you haven’t already. We have a dead heat at the moment. If it’s a tie, I’ll let this ride until morning. If it’s still a tie at that point, I’m voting!
The heat’s keeping me awake, so I’ll use the opportunity to toss in my two cents. Although I’ve bought socks, I not only bought a weighted blanket once, but even purchased an additional one on MorningSave. So the comforter category gets my vote. (As a note, Meh’s weighted blanket was $35 for a 15 pound model. A regional discounter was selling a 12 pounder from the same manufacturer in their newspaper flyer for $50. Nice job Meh buyers!)
@brakeforbeer Please give the comforters a star up there. Your comment is the deciding vote and I’m counting it as such!
@cinoclav Done! (A little slow on the uptake.)
@brakeforbeer @cinoclav
I am not comforted …
