@nogoodwithnames Grocery shopping is not a chore. Every other kind of shopping is a chore at best. Maybe @jst1ofknd is going to the wrong grocery store. I’ll admit, if I had to do my shopping at Safeway, it would be a drag. But we go to our small-town, family-owned IGA and love it.
@nogoodwithnames i’m not going to bother looking up the definition of chore, but if it’s “thing you ought to do that you don’t want to do and which you don’t get paid for” then yeah, grocery shopping is a chore. actually i classify it as an errand, but errands are just a kind of chore.
When we have small amounts of snow, say up to 6", I enjoy fellowship of my neighbors. Everyone can enjoy the beauty of the scene, socialize, and help each other shovel. More snow than that becomes too much work to enjoy.
I enjoy grocery shopping on the rare occasions that I can do it in the off-peak hours. I have a problem with crowds, and that trumps any enjoyment I might otherwise get from the experience.
I don’t exactly enjoy doing dishes, but I’m always pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy it is. I didn’t choose shopping, because it isn’t a chore, it’s an adventure. Kind of like meh, it’s a challenge of finding the best deals at the best prices for stuff I actually need or want. My last grocery shopping trip the register rang $48, then applied discounts and finalized at $23. My goal is always to have the “you saved $× today” note at the bottom of the receipt be greater than the receipt total. My all time best was getting $114 of groceries for $12. That was some serious coupon mojo.
I like mowing because I can put on headphones and listen to podcasts or 90’s music and no one bothers me. I also enjoy the grocery shopping when it isn’t busy and I don’t run into 50 people I know that want to talk.

I enjoy splitting firewood (by hand with an ax and maul). Kind of a zen workout.
