Meh, couldn’t buy something that actually takes any amount of learning to do it. I remember when there were only a select few who could acquire the skill to fly a toy flying machine. I find these little quadcopters to be quite stable and amazingly easy to fly.
@kbaum17 You must have got a defective one, or you just don’t have any skills flying. I have flown the non-camera version and this one indoors like a champ. Crash them into the wall a hundred times and they still keep going.
@DaveInSoCal…This is what they are worth. Give me something that can auto-stabilize at a reasonable price and more people will buy it. I’d get motion sickness watching any video I made with this.
That’s one fine Venn diagram, Meh! And it sparked a billion dollar idea! Listen to this: Chia-Sockz! You seed a pair of socks with some nice aromatic herbs like sweet basil or spearmint. The warm moist conditions in your shoe make the perfect growing environment. It’s fun for all ages and the herbs keep your feet from stinking up the joint. And the best part? When you kick off your shoes after a long, hard day at the office, you have just what you need to make a delicious pesto or refreshing summer salad. I’m telling you, Meh, it’s gold! Let’s do lunch next week and we can discuss distribution plans.
These are great, and hold up pretty well. I had one of the non-camera versions stuck on the roof for a week, and it did rain, but the little bugger still works. Props will break but it does come with some spares. Pay close attention to the angle of the props, there are two different kinds.
I would buy more, but I have a couple still unopened.
Wow pretty quick to put these back up. Bought one the last time and it’s fun, and methinks it’s a good way to learn how to fly without risking a more expensive machine. Only scratched a little when it crashed into my bare arm, but try to avoid the face.
I bought this last go-round and have only tried it a few times. Have yet to get more than a couple feet of the ground. I have no idea how to maintain my bearings when I try to steer. Within 10 seconds I go into panic mode and get completely overwhelmed. Then I put it away for a few more days. I also have to use it when the dogs aren’t around. The Golden Retriever doesn’t give a rat’s ass about it but it freaks out the Border Collie. But I still consider it a fine way to waste twenty bucks. Well, twenty-one something in California.
@SSteve don’t forget to read the manual, pushing the left stick in like a button will make it beep one two or three times. One beep is beginner mode. Also, see the section on calibrating the accelerometers on a flat surface. Do it every time you pair the remote, before you take off. Both those make flying it much easier.
I bought one of these last time they were up and it’s a total POS. Doesn’t even fly, it lifts up on three corners then slides across floor until it hits something. Remote unpairs itself constantly, you have to turn them both off and on again constantly to keep it working. I think this its the only Meh I’ve bought that went from the box to the trashcan in the same day (although those stinky memory foam pillows were a close call).
@smbryanfl sounds like a good time to invoke your 90 Day Mediocre warranty! That CX-10c probably has a dead/dying li-ion battery OR one of the motors is bad; in either case, get a Mediocre replacement.
@wickhameh I have about the same experience level, and it hasn’t been too hard. The most important skill that carries over is being used to flying gently. You build up confidence quickly enough.
@sMACKaddict To be fair, that one doesn’t come with a SD card, but still, it’s a little misleading how meh.com links to a $35 listing on Amazon instead of the $23 listing of the same item. And I’ll take $23 and free second-day Prime shipping and provide my own SD card.
Bought two last time, still enjoying. And when I think about it, super impressed with the price. Think about all the components in this thing, and then try to figure out how it can possibly be $20.
2GB SD card.
Enough processing power to compress video.
Battery (albeit small)
Circuitry for writing to SD card.
Video camera (albeit low-res)
Wireless receiver
Wireless transmitter
Motors
Accelerometers (I assume based on its surprising ability to balance and return to facing the same direction after brushing against something)
Casing
A twin stick controller
A twin stick controller alone typically costs almost this much. This thing is magic!
I’m hoping for meh to also do some of these, for those of us who routinely lose their battery chargers and spare batteries: http://amzn.to/2e4bOgL
For $3.32 more (or save $1.68 if you’re not a VMP), the CX-10W adds WiFi, first person view/live video, and the ability to use your mobile phone (iOS/Android) as the controller.
Add $19 ($14 for non-VMPs) to get the latest CX-10WD which has all of the W features plus altitude hoLD.
I already bought one of these damned things which has been hard at work filming my wife in the shower and going potty. Let me just say to future purchasers, this little fella doesn’t stand up well to swatting or splashing from angry wives. But, if your intentions are pure, these things are a barrel of monkeys.
I just bought two of these. While they’re pretty neat, they’re too hard to control and keeping them both stationary and level is a pretty big struggle even indoors with no winds or drafts.
Outside, a good breeze will send it crashing into the ground because of pretty much all the technical limitations associated with something this small. I don’t regret my purchase, because it’s compelled me to try to find something a little bigger and easier to control, and as a gift, these things are kind of fun and easily forgotten when they eventually break. But I wouldn’t buy one again for myself or anyone else now that I’ve already done so once.

Yes, these things rule!
@Stallion These things suck. Horrible. Impossible to control. total junk.

@Stallion you’ve confused me: shouldn’t flying the CX-10c “like a champ” mean avoiding “crash[ing] them into the wall a hundred times”?!
@mwarren I had to learn somehow!
More flying contraptions that are hard to control?
I’ll pass.
Did these get more expensive at some point?
@chipt4 No, more fun!
I will give you $10 for 4 of these.
@DaveInSoCal Move on,make room for the folks with some real cash in their jeans.
@DaveInSoCal…This is what they are worth. Give me something that can auto-stabilize at a reasonable price and more people will buy it. I’d get motion sickness watching any video I made with this.
I’m waiting on the <$10 stocking stuffer quad copters. C’mon
These are pretty meh
I wonder what is next. Backpack?
@gunhan1 I’m guessing cup… some sort of cup.
@Tin_Foil it’s generic thermos time!
Didn’t these pop up two weeks ago?
@koifish I think they’ve been popping up every two weeks for about a year now
@koifish - the “daily” video was posted on Jan 28, 2016.
I bought this last time. Haven’t managed to catch any hilarious injuries on video with it yet.
These are fun to fly. Everytime they go up for sale, I post this video of it flying around at night.
@mrimdman there is much blackness in your video (and your heart)
@mrimdman I only made it 12 seconds in before I had to turn it off. Is there any way you can make the music even more annoying and tinny?
@therealjrn I found the volume slider in less that 12 seconds. Probably muted it before the first “holly”.
This listing flew away with my VMP status!
@Tin_Foil What does that mean exactly? I have VMP, what did you do?
Change is scary.
I bought this the last time they went on sale and the laughs alone are worth $20.

/giphy dirty socks
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but please bring back the non camera versions @$5

@D_a_v_e Watch out for that tree.
Weren’t these cheaper? $20 is too much. $5 would be a winner.
@ESQuireTech Video camera.
So tired of seeing these.
@Lazarpandar buy some then you can be tired of seeing them at home too!
Got one of these last time and love it. Took it to the office and everyone is just trying to fly it into things.
Man these things cost a meh bundle
@AttyVette Man I can’t understand your sentence?
Nj??
Nj

Goddamn that is the sexiest Vann Diagram I have ever seen
/giphy cxc
Tapping the ‘meh’ button… why isn’t it working?
Oh yeah, this is the work laptop.
These things suck. Horrible. Impossible to control. total junk.
At this point they should be packaged with an outdated JBL speaker docking station.
Im guessing tomorrows deal will be speakers
worst made. venn diagram. ever.

@smbryanfl my BEM clock radio did that too, especially after hitting the ground several times. Oops!

If I’m pretty good at flying a remote-controlled helicopter (gyroscope-balanced), would I be pretty good at these?
@wickhameh I have about the same experience level, and it hasn’t been too hard. The most important skill that carries over is being used to flying gently. You build up confidence quickly enough.

@Martoon There’s a listing for the orange one at $22.

@Martoon You are right, and that is what I was also thinking.
The Amazon price history shows these at $15 on average and lowest at $12.
Naughty Meh…
Some models are $8 here
@jake5snooze Not the same model… no camera on that one.
Did my browser freeze from 2 weeks ago?
Forget the Chia Newt, I want a Chia Gary Johnson. You can smoke the hair.

Meh!, no sale again. Repeat sale, repeat comment:
P.S. the above comparisons assume that the SD card included in Meh’s deal isn’t worth anything.
@mwarren Holy crap, first person flying is a hugeee upgrade considering the price difference. Can’t wait for these to come down in price next year.
I already bought one of these damned things which has been hard at work filming my wife in the shower and going potty.
