Also, they operate on slightly different principles. Vitamix uses a sharp blade with a higher speed vortex, which functions beautifully as a food processing device. Does some fantastic soups, but that slicing method is better for some foods than others. Meanwhile, the Blendtec is less about speed, and the blunt blades act more as hammers, yielding great capability in crushing. Whether the desire is something like a smoothie or a homemade nut butter (almond is a favourite in my house, and cashew for my parents), this will never stop, or let you down. The deal is over, but there are similar deals for about $250 at Costco or Amazon frequently, and I highly recommend the investment since either tool is high quality, but have overlapping specialties.
Given that this is Meh, please note that today they are selling a NEW product, with Blendtec’s freaking 8-YEAR warranty.

My advice: shut up and give Meh your money. This is a hell of a deal on a hell of a blender. You will not be disappointed.
I bought one of these from meh like 4 years ago and it’s the best purchase I’ve made from meh yet. We use it daily. It has over 3000 blends on its counter. Still works great. The wild side jar started leaking from the bottom and I finally called blendrec this week and they are sending a new one. I wanna think my most is the 570. This one sounds like it has more speeds/buttons but I’m honestly not sure if that really means anything
In any case, if you are looking for a solid blender then you can’t go wrong with blendrec. And the warranty is like 5 years I think.
I’ve had this blender combo for several years now, got it for about the same price open box from Sam’s Club as a display model. This blender is the real deal, the memes are no joke, this is The Blender.

I got a Blendtec 3 years ago, and it still works great. I make a cilantro salad dressing, and it turns the cilantro into smooth liquid. The thing that surprised me at first was how dull the blades are. But it’s damn good, and the dull blades mean I can wash it without fear of cutting myself.
I have had this blender for at least 6-7 years and I LOVE it! I think I paid $250 back then for mine (but could have been more-who knows!). It was the best investment! I have no issues with it and it does a great job with everything I’ve tried to do with it! Haven’t tried making soup, but that may be next!

Her jaw was wired shut for however long it takes to heal from that, so she had it done over the summer instead of during the school year. When we came back in the fall she said after a few weeks she got so sick of smoothies and shakes that she tossed a Big Mac in the blender, added some milk, blended it up and drank it.
She said it was disgusting, but she forced herself to finish it (because dammit she wanted that burger) and then never did it again.

The blended Big Mac actually won the blind taste test. SO of course I had to reproduce this finding to confirm for myself (and for SCIENCE!). It was actually pretty good, but a lot of work.
Would buy if we didn’t already have a Ninja CT680 that I bought two or three years ago from Meh (or was it Woot?). That sucker is only 1250W vs this brute’s 1650, but even it does a fabulous job. I still lust after a Blendtec, but as long as the Ninja refuses to die, it serves our purposes perfectly.
It’s worth pointing out that these high end blenders aren’t only about power though - the design of the blades and vessel are also large factors in their success. We had to use a friend’s generic blender to make my wife’s protein shakes while on vacation last year, and came to appreciate the design of our Ninja - the home store blender just cavitated and sat there spinning uselessly while the ingredients sat safely out of harm’s way.
While I understand people love it I can’t imagine why I’d ever spend 200 bucks on a blender. My cheapie does everything I want it to do. How is this better?
@Kidsandliz It’s one of those “you get what you pay for” deals. Lasts forever and high watt motor means it can do more, faster and better, than a Nutribullet or Ninja. It’s like the KitchenAid stand mixer of blenders.
@Kidsandliz it’s more about other things besides smoothies. One way to test it I easy. Making something like horchata. Doing it in a cheapy makes it grainy and not as flavorful. Good one can smash it better and more flavor and bang for your buck with that. I do a lot of dishes like enchiladas from dried peppers and sometimes pepper flakes get through.
@Kidsandliz Can also do some insanely powerful tasks without flinching - like making homemade almond butter (among other things). The power and durability of these units are practically off the scale. I don’t represent them in any way, but I used to work for a company, doing some electrical testing that required high amperage draw, and these outlived ALL of our other equipment.
@Fuzzalini blend it all together. After you let it sit over night you strain out the rice/star anise/cinnamon and add in more water/milk. Sweeten to taste. Easiest way to sweeten is either sweeten condensed milk or to make a simple syrup by boiling a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water until sugar is dissolved.

@Citymars It’s super easy to clean. add a little soap and water and a few pulses and it cleans itself. A hot water soak and long handled scrub brush easily takes care of anything more stubborn (peanut butter, iPhone dust, etc.)

If I didn’t already have one, I’d be all over this. I paid quite a bit more for mine, too. So, good price, one hell of a blender. You don’t have to have a built in tamper to cram food into the blades, like the V-mix.

Hmmm… we’re living in Brazil, where no blenders on the market have any power or quality. We’ve got a blendtec that’s survived 2.5 years of making peanut butter, smashing frozen fruit, etc. and it still destroys everything. And I live in fear of it breaking. Gotta think hard about getting this, and picking it up next time we’re in the US (who knows when that will be).
Unfortunately being an unrepentant New England Yankee it would be immoral for me to pay $199 for a new blender when I have a perfectly fine and functioning $25 blender that has been making 2 smoothies a day for the past 3 years. Perhaps another time when conditions have changed.
Buy it. Without question it is the best blender and a great company that stands behind their product. I’ve never taken the time to write a review on anything -ever. But I feel so strongly about how awesome this blender is!! We got ours about 12 years ago and it has survived 4 kids, fad diets and being lugged back and forth to various people’s houses. Still like new even with on-going daily use. Got a second one for our vacation rental and our guests mention how great it is in the reviews they leave and feedback they give us. Everyone loves it.
I bought a similar model here waaaayyyy back in 2016. Previously I’d vowed never to spend more than $25 bucks at a time on this site. Ha! Glad I got it. It’s still going strong. It puts the smooth in smoothie. Sure most blenders break individual ingredients down into a liquidy yet chunky goop that you call a smoothie. This baby truly blends everything together into a yummy delightful texture…Excellent buy!
@uscpsycho Well, the instant pot jar is only 54 oz compared to 90 for the Blendtec. The Blendtec also has an 8 year warranty. That is as far as I got. I have 2 Instant Pots. Well, one has a cracked handle and a split. I tried to just buy the lid but it was $20 cheaper than getting a new one.
If it was me I would cancel the Instant Pot blender. What is the replacement cost of a new jar for the Instant Pot blender?
Here is one more thing to consider. You don’t see Blendtec making electronic pressure cookers.
@uscpsycho I just bought it a few minutes ago. I was considering buying a vitamix but, it is very expensive. Their cheesy, live demonstrations with the microphone and the crowd made it seem gimmicky. Almost like they were selling a snake oil tonic. It turned me off.
@tohru I was asking about Instant vs Blendtec. Vitamix is in a different category and superior to Blendtec in every comparison I looked at.
I think I’m going to keep the instant blender I ordered because it is better than all for making hot soups. Then wait for a Vitamix deal because if I buy a Blendtec I’ll always wish I spent a little more for a Vitamix.
@uscpsycho I knew that you were talking about the instant pot. My point was convulated by my re to myself. I was trying to say that replacing my instant pot lid was nearly as much as buying a new one. I would keep that in mind. Instant Pot is great at instant pots. I don’t know about blenders or how much it would cost to replace the jar.
I started talking about Vitamix because they also stick to one thing but I don’t like their schtick.
@aoeu for that comparison to be valid the blender would have to be limited to only blending expensive proprietary packets of foods sold by the blender company, and the packets would self-blend if you just squeezed them right with your hands as well.

I like my old blender because I can substitute a Mason jar for the pitcher. I just toss all the ingredients in the jar, screw the blade assembly onto the jar, and then blend.
From the photos here, I can’t tell if you can do that with this blender. Most of the new-fashioned square-bottomed blenders can’t do that.

@Fuzzalini I do like a 1.25 cups of rice , three whole cinnamon sticks and a couple star anise and let it sit for at least 12 hours in the fridge

Just bought it and considering canceling the order for this blender.
@uscpsycho Well, the instant pot jar is only 54 oz compared to 90 for the Blendtec. The Blendtec also has an 8 year warranty. That is as far as I got. I have 2 Instant Pots. Well, one has a cracked handle and a split. I tried to just buy the lid but it was $20 cheaper than getting a new one.
If it was me I would cancel the Instant Pot blender. What is the replacement cost of a new jar for the Instant Pot blender?
Here is one more thing to consider. You don’t see Blendtec making electronic pressure cookers.
@uscpsycho I just bought it a few minutes ago. I was considering buying a vitamix but, it is very expensive. Their cheesy, live demonstrations with the microphone and the crowd made it seem gimmicky. Almost like they were selling a snake oil tonic. It turned me off.
@tohru I was asking about Instant vs Blendtec. Vitamix is in a different category and superior to Blendtec in every comparison I looked at.
I think I’m going to keep the instant blender I ordered because it is better than all for making hot soups. Then wait for a Vitamix deal because if I buy a Blendtec I’ll always wish I spent a little more for a Vitamix.

@uscpsycho I knew that you were talking about the instant pot. My point was convulated by my re to myself. I was trying to say that replacing my instant pot lid was nearly as much as buying a new one. I would keep that in mind. Instant Pot is great at instant pots. I don’t know about blenders or how much it would cost to replace the jar.
I started talking about Vitamix because they also stick to one thing but I don’t like their schtick.
@tohru someone earlier seemed to indicate Vitamix is inferior to Blendtec . . .
A (MSRP) $400 Blender sounds reminiscent of a $400 Juicer:

@aoeu for that comparison to be valid the blender would have to be limited to only blending expensive proprietary packets of foods sold by the blender company, and the packets would self-blend if you just squeezed them right with your hands as well.

@djslack @stupidusername isn’t it? there’s some interesting lessons in that product / company about over-engineering, economics, and venture-capital… so I guess it wasn’t a total waste?
I like my old blender because I can substitute a Mason jar for the pitcher. I just toss all the ingredients in the jar, screw the blade assembly onto the jar, and then blend.
From the photos here, I can’t tell if you can do that with this blender. Most of the new-fashioned square-bottomed blenders can’t do that.
