I probably should’ve voted “the meal” but in reality it’s just plain the eating that’s the best. The pre-meal snacking; the meal itself; the post-meal grazing; the watch-the-dogshow snacking; the watching-movies-after-the-meal snacking.
Normally I would say getting together with the fambly is the best part, but since hubby and I moved away a few years ago, we don’t get to have holidays with them anymore. It’s a bummer. I miss them. So now I guess it’s the meal. I still cook a full turkey dinner with all the fixings for the two of us.
Family? Friends?
Nah.
Desert! Nothing beats good pumpkin pie.
@Star2236 Yes!
And the nap afterwards
@Star2236 Mom always did make the driest of pies.
@Star2236 I’m all about the cheesecake. I like my pumpkin savory!
@Star2236 I challenge your delicious pumpkin pie with my friend’s pumpkin log.
It is a large sheet of thin, pumpkin cake rolled up around a core of cream cheese filling. Available with or without walnuts.
@sillyheathen Cheesecake topped with pumpkin butter is is the bomb! (In the sense of both flavor AND density )
@PocketBrain Be sure to hydrate!
Guys, I’m sensing a pattern here.
Gotta go with “bourbon” once again.
Maybe I should go with “Wild Turkey” for this one.
@PocketBrain It’s not heat, it’s spice.
This year it’ll be friends.
Best part of Thanksgiving? When the in-laws leave…
ALL of it!
Gotta go with Family. (genetic or chosen) No other reason to celebrate the day.
This year, it’s family. And leaving the house, which I don’t do much these days.
Yeah, definitely getting together with family and friends.
Everything else is for “atmosphere.”

The MST3K marathon, if/when it happens. ALL OTHER THANKSGIVING HAVE NO THANKS.
When you dine with sane people and there is no turkey in sight.
@yakkoTDI It could happen!

Having a reason to get family together, it doesn’t just happen spontaneously anymore. <sigh>
My family does Christmas on Thanksgiving whenever we can. My favorite part is giving everyone presents.
The sexy cousins.
@medz yikes. Don’t you have a girlfriend of something?
@SEGAStaRBiTS64
Happily married!
Enjoying the scenery ain’t gonna hurt nobody, though.
