@Kyeh
Yes to both of those! It was so sad when Robin Williams killed himself, not something you’d expect from a comedian. And I think everyone loved Mash!
I was curious about that multi camera thing, I didn’t know the criteria for that so of course I googled it.
@Kyeh@Lynnerizer Robin Williams has a mental illness, he masked it very well, he did not get the help he needed to help him overcome the problems, it was NOT him, but the sickness that controlled him at the end. So very sad, That Doc he Portrayed in one of the movies he did, would been perfect to help him
@f00l@Lynnerizer@mycya4me Yes, and apparently LBD can have terrible mental effects:
“He experienced rapid, debilitating symptoms including severe anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations, and Parkinsonian movement issues”
So so sad.
@f00l@Kyeh@Lynnerizer The Doc I spoke about Re: Robin Williams was Patch Adams, Yes he was interviews after his death, If I remember correctly that Doc Adams stated Could have helped, remember he did NOT used conventual treatments. Yes the Tech was NOT as good then.
I honestly have no idea which sitcoms were multi-camera and which are single camera. Other than quality, single-camera frequently being better quality, is there a way to easily know the difference without googling it if you’re not there present when it is being filmed?
according to the linked article, Garry Marshall and his camera crew created the 4 camera setup for Mork and Mindy.
the were using a three camera setup but Robin William’s improvised physical comedy was so insane that they had to use two cameras for him. one for close ups, the other for full body movement.

3rd Rock
@2many2no great show!
The Dick Van Dyke Show & All in the Family (I quit watching most TV comedies a long time ago.)
@Kyeh

Those were my childhood favorites along with Hogan’s Heros!
@Lynnerizer
I love MASH too, but it’s not a multi-camera sitcom.
Oh, and Mork & Mindy because Robin Williams was brilliant!

@Kyeh @Lynnerizer @mycya4me
I thought he had a form of Lewy Body Dementia (I think Bruce Willis has a similar disorder)
I don’t think much effective treatment could be had then. I’m not sure the medical prognosis is much improved now.
I gathered from news reports that he couldn’t see much positive about losing his capacity to use his own brain.
I still remember where I was when the notification of his death buzzed my phone: at a restaurant w a good friend whose phone buzzed at the same time.
suddenly the entire restaurant was kinda going “oh no! not Robin Williams!”
@Kyeh @Lynnerizer
MASH was single camera?
maybe because of the detailed outdoor sets?
(I know nothing about the practicalities of filming a script)

@f00l @Lynnerizer I had to look it up to be sure, but yes, filmed outdoors in various locations.

BBT and Two and a Half Men.
I started rewatching Frasier, still great.
@caalsio Look out! He’s got a nug!
BBT and HIMYM are my background shows
Saved by the bell?
Haha just kidding. It’s gotta be HIMYM
My all-time favorite has to be the short-lived Better Off Ted. (I bought the series on Amazon Prime and have watched them multiple times.)
@macromeh That was truly one of the best sitcoms I’ve ever seen. It really deserved more than two seasons.
Most reboots don’t really work out- but I’d love to see a show exploring Veridian Dynamics in the 2020’s.
@macromeh Sometimes the Veridian Dynamics stock music plays in my head.
Arrested Development-I don’t know how many cameras.
The OG Multi Camera. I Love Lucy
@jweber1145
that camera setup was invented for this series I think.
I have been watching from the Beginning MASH, it was an Awesome show. The wild thing was it lasted longer than the Actual Korean war lasted.
POPSOCKETS! ROAD ROCKETS! SONNY CROCKETT! AWESOME!
Everybody Loves Raymond

@OnionSoup me too
. It’s kinda like when people start analyzing story arcs and I’m just trying to watch a show…
love re-watching Cheers. not so much the entire shows. just the openers.
