The Daily, The Argument. I was listening to Dr. Death on my subway commute back when it first came out, but it made me so squeamish, I didn’t think it was a good idea to be making those faces in public.
Been listening to Sherlock Holmes on Audible, narrated by Stephen Fry. Once I’m done with that I’ll have some catching up to do on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, and Pete Holmes’ You Made it Weird eps. I can’t stand commercials, and haven’t listened to “regular” radio for years now, so I usually just tune NPR on my short commute.
@hchavers I love audiobooks! I listen to either podcasts or audiobooks all day long. Occasionally the orcasound Lime Kiln hydrophone to see if any orca whales are near San Juan Island.
I like serial podcasts or audiobooks, stories or investigative series - the next chapter of whatever gives me something to look forward to as I sit in traffic …
I listen to a mix from Twit.TV, The FUMP, Without Your Head, Week In Geek, The Unbelievers, some workamper related and finance podcasts. Being my drive is only about 20-30 minutes each way it’s filled with the podcasts played at 2x speed.
I’ve been listening to a lot of Harmony Nice on YouTube. She does witchy, crime, and paranormal stuff. She’s great and I watch her literally all day… Trouble is I’m finding it leaves me feeling creeped out when I have the office to myself or I’m home alone.
@zinimusprime
New England, not northeast. Don’t include a Pennsylvanian on that wicked shit.
Granted, some people call our state Pennsyltucky, so there’s that.
My favorite podcast that I listen to every week is the “Shout It Out Loudcast” primarily because I’m a big KISS geek, but also because the two hosts are funny as shit!
I also don’t miss “Growin’ Up Rock” for those of us who came of age in the 80’s hard rock/heavy metal era. The Music isn’t DEAD! Check it out!
I listen to a lot of tech-business blathering and newsy things. That is probably a mistake…
I tend to like interviews with “intellectuals” (?), or podcasts about specialized knowledge. Economics, law, chemistry or whatever – things that provide a broader view into what constitutes the world, as described by people who are familiar with day-to-day existence in whatever corner. The more mass audience stuff is also nice from time to time.
I’d really like to listen to more music podcasts, but it’s hard to manufacture the time and quiet listening conditions.
Skeptic’s Guide to the Universe specifically, Science and educational podcasts generally.
I also like Star Talk Radio, Weekly Space Hangout, Astronomycast, and the Geologic Podcast.
Not a podcast…
My commute consists of walking down the hall to my office, so no, no podcast or anything.
A science or technology based podcast, like Science Friday, Science Vs, Reset, etc.
@arieltf I always liked This Week in Science when I was commuting.
Even if I liked podcasts 10 mins is hardly enough time to listen to anything. But half the time I cycle to work anyway.
none. i have a one mile commute.
One that plays nothing but music.
The Daily, The Argument. I was listening to Dr. Death on my subway commute back when it first came out, but it made me so squeamish, I didn’t think it was a good idea to be making those faces in public.
I really, really like Hello Internet.
Hello Internet
Can’t say enough good things about Stuff You Should Know. Natural banter with hosts that make any topic interesting.
@agermane I agree! One of my faves.
NPR. Podcasts put me to sleep.
@katbyter what a coincidence! NPR has some of the biggest podcasts on the internet!
@djslack I just turn on the old fashioned radio.
The Magnus Archives for a healthy dose of horror. Have to stay alert!

The Economist. Listening to world news makes me feel better about the traffic I’m sitting in. At least no one is fire bombing me right now…
No commute = no podcast.
I have a list, but usually it’s Marketplace, or make me Smart, or WTF going to /from work.
Lately I’ve been enjoying Justin Long’s podcast. He seems like such a nice guy!
RetroGaming Podcast with random topics!
What about Audio books? Does anyone enjoy classic culture today?
@hchavers I love audiobooks! I listen to either podcasts or audiobooks all day long. Occasionally the orcasound Lime Kiln hydrophone to see if any orca whales are near San Juan Island.
NPR for news, Dave Ramsey for personal improvement, Comedy when there’s time left over after those.
I like serial podcasts or audiobooks, stories or investigative series - the next chapter of whatever gives me something to look forward to as I sit in traffic …
“Today in true crime” on spotify
I listen to a mix from Twit.TV, The FUMP, Without Your Head, Week In Geek, The Unbelievers, some workamper related and finance podcasts. Being my drive is only about 20-30 minutes each way it’s filled with the podcasts played at 2x speed.
One of the 30 or so true crime podcasts I subscribe to.
I don’t listen to podcasts.

I listen to that podcast called sports radio. I know, I’m wicked lame. And you can tell I’m from the northeast because of my use of the word ‘wicked’.
@zinimusprime
New England, not northeast. Don’t include a Pennsylvanian on that wicked shit.

@hems79 @zinimusprime
@hems79 If you’re not using wicked to accentuate something then you ain’t wicked cool. Just like peein’ your pants is wicked cool.

WUSF (my area’s NPR station) if I want the news
Daily Show “ears addition” if I want the news but am feeling a little too sad/fragile and need some jokes in my news
The Adventure Zone/MBMBaM if I don’t want to know what the news is and just want jokes
History! (Stuff You Missed, Memory Palace)
Pop culture analysis! (Binge Mode)
True crime! (Criminal)
And I’d throw them all away for a FORENSIC ACCOUNTING TRUE CRIME podcast. Recommendations, please.
Shoutout Circling Back. It just hits different.
The NoSleep Podcast. My favorite “horror” genre podcast and in general.
Not really a “podcast” podcast, and more of a story time campfire talk, but I like it anyway.
Big fan of various improv podcasts. Often get weird looks for laughing out loud on the bus.
Wait…wait!
My commute is 15 minutes. No time for podcasts or audible. Drive time radio. Morning zoo and all things considered.
The history of philosophy without any gaps
