Coffee is not a bean.
Google says, “A coffee bean is a seed of the Coffea plant and the source for coffee. … Just like ordinary cherries, the coffee fruit is also a so-called stone fruit. Even though the coffee beans are not technically beans, they are referred to as such because of their resemblance to true beans.”
Oh, neither is chocolate/cacoa
@Cerridwyn@ThunderChicken Know what you stick in the ground to grow a bean plant? A bean. Wikipedia:
A bean is the seed of one of several genera of the flowering plant family Fabaceae
The Chicago Bean…I missed my annual pilgrimage to Chi-town this Spring to visit Aunt Hilda. Thanks for nothing COVID! She subsequently passed away at 99 years. (not from Corona)
@Cerridwyn It’s in the orchid family, yes. But the fruit vanilla comes from is called the vanilla bean. Even if it isn’t scientifically a bean, it’s more bean-like than coffee “beans.”
And chocolate and coffee are in the same family, but only coffee is mentioned. Since coffee was the only one like this listed, I knew before taking the poll that it was going to come out on top.

Coffee is an option, but chocolate and vanilla aren’t? Bah!
@Weboh
Vanilla is from an orchid

I love pinto beans, but garbanzo beans make falafels and I need them in my life.
