Heck yeah, $8 for a probably-not-accurate-enough-for-medical-standards heart sensor? Worth a shot. I take medication for tachycardia, and oooh, if I’m late on a dose, it’s fun to see how long it takes my heart to calm back down. And maybe I could excercise or something, I dunno.
I think this is an incredible deal! Wish I had it right now, so I could tell you how fast my heart’s beating! Although truthfully, most days, weeks, years, there wouldn’t be much of a distance between average and maximum heart rate. Can this thing tell you if you had a heart attack?
But, again, I think this is an incredible, super-dooper deal. What’s holding me up is I can’t decide between model numbers.
Oh, Oh, and a photo of someone wearing one of each would really be helpful.
Is this like obsessive compulsive disorder? Seriously, I’ve been hung up on what model for quite a while now.
The crowd yells, “If you think it’s such a super-dooper deal, buy one of both.” Yeah, well, I kinda hate to do that.
I gotta skinny wrist. Think one of these would look better on a skinny wrist? I gotta decide, they’re gonna pause this sucker soon.
@conandlibrarian I know what you mean. I have a few items like that myself. One’s a body fat analysis scale and the other, I don’t remember anymore. I guess I’ll give it as a gift and be just as surprised as the recipient.
Either you and I have a problem, or Mr.Meh has devised a way to write such hypnotizing copy that we lost our free will and were compelled to buy, buy,BUY. I’m going with the latter, and will be contacting my lawyer Monday to see how to proceed. (Myself, I think it would be quite an honor to be sued for writing that good!)
Back to the watch, I guess, and I still haven’t decided on which one.
I found a video for the strap version. Turn the volume off though–her voice and words will drive you banannas.
You can be the 9th viewer!
@noot Yes! I did not realize this was a thing, as it did not seem to want to connect to Endomondo (a running app I have). Much to my delight, after lifting weights I went to a treadmill to do a few miles and before I even pressed go my heart rate was showing on the treadmill. I thought the treadmill was broken at first, but it was the monitor and the treadmill syncing.
The last fitness watch I bought from here was a total piece of sh*t: the firmware refused to update; it wouldn’t sync with the app on my phone b/c of the firmware issues; the backlight didn’t function; the heart rate monitor didn’t work; and the battery was weak on arrival. The best part? I contacted meh customer support about the issues, and they wouldn’t even consider a refund. Heck of a way to treat your customers, especially a VMP subscriber.
In short: you’re taking a risk with your money by buying one of these bottom-rung fitness watches and, at the end of the day, $8 is still $8.
If we’d get a water-resistant watch with a step counter for about $10 or less, I’d be in. Easier than the pedometers for my workplace fatness…errr… fitness challenge. Plus I’m too cheap to buy fatbuts. Err… FitBits
Hmm… I’ll be leveling up to 48 soon… After finishing PT I want to up my cardio game… Probably a good idea for a fat old lady not to have a heart attack while running… Don’t want to scare the kiddies! Although a fat old lady running might be scary enough… Pick our battles!
@ManBehindPlan I have used this on the machines at L. A. Fitness. I didn’t realize that the chest strap automatically picks up the rate. I think all of the Lifefitness series of machines are capable of displaying HR if it is a feature of the machine. So far I have seen it display on stationary bikes and treadmills, a major plus.
SON OF A SOMETHING OR OTHER. I finally picked the one I wanted, I went and bought the VMP thing, cause I was confused. You all told me how to do that but I forgot, and I had too much pride, I guess to ask again.
so I came back to buy the cloth, since I have an allergy, sometimes to plastic.
And my model was sold out.
I bought two. one for me and one for the kid who cuts my grass, so he can explain it to me.
Ah, if you have any mesh left send me one or two.
This went down so bad. My own fault.
Just got my Barskas which will be gifts for the nephews. Of course, last night I was hearing beeps every once in a while. Hard to track down since the beeps were not that often. Today, I found out, the beeping was coming from the Barskas. They are beeping on the hour. Since they aren’t all set for the same time, I get beeps, in what seem like a random pattern.
Can’t open the boxes to turn off the beeping because they have a “seal”, and you can’t squeeze a button thru the box, because it won’t flex enough. Anyone else have any ideas?
