@TheCO2 - Go for it! My wife and I live in what used to be MY family home, because my father had to move into a home, but didn’t want to give up the home. My wife’s family home had to be sold so her parents could go into a home, so she’ll be celebrating Christmas with her mother at the home. Her sister’s family will be staying at our home while also celebrating Christmas at the home. I won’t be home, because I’m working all week. We were kind of hoping we could convince my father to join the in-laws at the other home, but he doesn’t feel up to the travel, so he’ll be having Christmas dinner at his home. So if you’d like to join him for Christmas at the home, great! Or if you’d like to drop by our home that’s fine too - please walk the dog, he’ll be the only one at home.

@aetris@ybmuG That sounds about right. Poodles are very smart and can be bossy and dachshunds can be pretty aggressive, with a strong prey drive. I have 2 cattle dogs, which are very smart and bossy, also. One of them doesn’t care for some people, but that’s pretty common with the breed.
Where the hell is “home?” Is it where I was born, and no one in my family has lived for over fifty years? Is it where I was living when I left for college, never to permanently return? My parents died years ago, but two brothers are still live in that area. So that’s kinda home. Is it in North Carolina where I lived a few years and have the fondest memories? I now live alone, so it’s my home I guess, but no one else calls it home (I didn’t raise my kids in this house), so it doesn’t have a “home for the holidays” vibe. I usually go to my daughter’s place because she is the better and more enthusiastic cook, so I guess that’s my “holiday home,” where my daughter and my grandkids and my heart are. So yeah, I’m going home for the holidays.

No, because they’re coming to us. We’re hosting parent, aunts, uncle, step-brother w/wife & 2 kids. At our house. Majority of the week for most of them. So, that’s why we’re not going home, and probably not looking forward to it all…
Sadly, it depends on whether the kiddos mom will comply with the court ordered holiday schedule. Her track record so far does not instill trust or reflect favorably upon the courts, I am sad to say, for my kids sake.
