Bump. Local media stations are having drives for food/clothes/diapers/anything. They’re coordinating with charities to put together truck caravans. We just had a heavy hit here last year.
When Ivan hit us we were without power for almost 6 weeks. This was a more powerful storm than Ivan. The power grid for Panama City and Mexico Beach was almost completely destroyed. Anyone in that area will need time to respond so keep on bumping this please.
@Mehrocco_Mole Have you considered going to them rather than waiting for them to come here to a little obscure thread on our mediocre daily deal website?
@therealjrn Our church group leaves Friday to go work with St. Andrews Baptist Church in Panama City. I was released from the hospital last week and my cardiologist says I’m a no-go. We’re donating water and diapers instead.
I’m still wondering where all that FEMA tax money the Congress gave to the 1% went, now that we have a 17% national deficit this year. Certainly ain’t the 1% stepping up to help out their fellow Puerto Ricans, South Carolinians, or Floridians.
P. S. Katrina survivor. Those who do not learn from the past are forever condemned to repeat it. Vote out the assholes that enable, support, promote and revel in causing suffering upon other Americans, including through willful inaction.
@therealjrn Whaaaaat? You mean to tell me that all the Republicans were hellbent on giving tax cuts to “all those New York Limosine Liberals”? Vote 'em out!
Bump
Likely folks who stayed behind can’t even text out yet…

I’m still wondering where all that money I sent to the Clinton Foundation ended up.

FEMA disaster aid does not affect taxable income, other federal benefits (Hurricane Sandy)
@therealjrn FEMA funds come from taxpayers. Government ain’t free.
@mike808 Whaaaaat? You mean to tell me I was paying for all those New York Limousine Liberal’s beach houses?
