However it’s supposed to be mid 60s this week
instead of 30s and 40s… and finally stop raining. But complicated by working till 6 and sunset being at 530…(standard time can just go fuck itself)
Presuming our loan closes on Wednesday, just trying to avoid chaos and maintain calm for as much as possible while we move into our first house ever. (I’m almost 40, so this feels like a very momentous, long time coming.)
Getting ready to move, finding a house, moving to it? Mostly just getting ready to move. It’s hard to get enthusiastic/take it seriously when you don’t know where you’re moving or when. So, maybe just trying to stop buying random craft supplies and books. And dolls. And toys. And mugs. And books again. And craft supplies again. And board games. I found myself thinking the other day, I can’t wait until we’ve moved and I can start buying unnecessary water bottles and small household appliances again. It’s really a drag walking past clearance small appliances at Target.

Walking to school in the dark, and more car accidents are not increased with the change, but rather with the entire time we’re on DST. Statistics show that during the times we are in DST, heart attacks and strokes are higher, and dip when we return to regular time.
We are pre-programmed, as is all of nature, to go by the sun. Going against nature is rarely a good idea.
None of those things are ‘cool’ and all supersede wanting to ‘do stuff outside’…IMO.

For coordinating stuff across wide areas, we could use UTC/GMT or just have our scheduling apps convert it to our local micro-timezone. It could open all sorts of possibilities like “Let’s meet every Saturday, 40 minutes after local sunrise” or “my end of workday is 40 minutes before local sunset/arriving home 20 minutes before local sunset.” We have the technology, we could actually use it to reduce stress in our lives.
@edguyver14@Lynnerizer Freecycle is another way to give stuff away (or request free things). It is more active in some areas of the country than others though. Nexdoor is another group that has “local” groups. In their local for sale forum they also have people listing free stuff.
Getting our new home organized, with coops/runs for my chickens taking highest priority. We just arrived like 7 hours ago, and my birds are in the garage until we can get a safe space for them set up.
@Pony I would not say no to some coop/run pics when you’re done. Although probably not getting bantams.
I get bored/obsessive on backyard chickens a few times a year but since I have 12 acres and the neighbors let theirs out on 2 I’d at least try and let them out in the field during the day.
Raccoons are the only real predators and maybe a fox so as long as they are locked in at night and are good foragers/pay attention. With a rooster to keep watch… Maybe. If get a round tuit.
I’m going to start driving again. I quit when my right hip went rogue and my leg wasn’t very dependable.
It’s been over two years, my hip has been replaced and there’s no reason why I can’t do the vet stuff by myself. They aren’t even a mile from our house. He’s got work to do and he needs to trust that I’ll be okay by myself.
@robcass Yeah, Thanksgiving. But I think it will be a smaller deal this year. Probably just my wife and I, her parents and one of her sisters and our one daughter who still lives close enough to drive here (out of four kids).
