@editorkid It's interesting to note that Meh has never tried that again. I think it's safe to thank all of those people for ruining it for the rest of us.
@galmaegi That is a difficult question to answer. I live in Raleigh, so the top breweries are Trophy, Big Boss, and Natty Greene's. The Knob Creek Barrel Aged Heavy Weight Champ from Trophy (ABV 14%) is probably my outright favorite. Big Boss has some amazing seasonals including the Big Operator and Harvest Time. I drink more at Big Boss than any other because its close to work. RedOak Brewery makes a good all around "fresh, no preservatives" amber lager. A lot of people don't think about the coast when they think of beer in NC but Front Street Brewery has a great selection and one of the best porters I've ever had...I just can't remember the name of it. If you're in NC go to http://www.ncbeer.org/brewery-map/ to find out more about the brewery options.
@RedHot I'm in Charlotte. Some of my favorites are OMB Copper (of course!) and Triple C Golden Boy. Never really liked anything NoDa... Sycamore Brewing just opened up right where I live at. Their ESB is soooo good! I've been to Greenman Brewery when I visited Asheville. Again, I liked their ESB. I guess I'm a ESB girl. I used to really like porters, but somehow my taste buds got changed. For porters, I like Kozel from Czech!
@galmaegi Hey, I grew up about 30 minutes from Charlotte in Lincoln County! I've done some drinking around there but I've been gone so long I'm not caught up on the Charlotte Breweries. Good ESBs are hard to find in Raleigh unfortunately. Asheville on the other hand has some great spots. French Broad and Wicked Weed are my go-tos. The people however, :-/ I guess I'm not big on dirty hippies
@RedHot Yup...those hippies in Asheville are very aggressive. They came up to me asking to share left-over food etc. Well, nope, I haven't been to Cornelius area yet. Do I have to own a boat? :p
@phatmass I was super skeptical of the beer here coming from California (sorry @RedHot, but California does have a ton of super fantastic beer, it deserves the #2 spot for sure) but I have had some really fantastic beers here. Lakewood, Revolver, Deep Ellum, Saint Arnold, Real Ale...there are still a ton I need to try but I've been very happy with what I've had. I've even been converted to a Shiner lover, you really can't help it here. Plus Shiner Cheer is SO GOOD and tastes like Christmas. I love it.
@DaveInSoCal San Diego represent! If you haven't made the trip to the Stone Brewery & Gardens in Escondido, drop everything and do it now because it's great.
@jsh139 I am indeed from SoCal and you're right, except Chili's is even worse than McDonalds.
@JonT I'd put California in (my) top seven but not at #2. I'm just drawn to those smokey porters and stouts developed in Colorado, NC, Oregon, and Vermont.
@JonT Community Mosaic IPA can stand up next to any California IPA. It's my favorite local beer. Rahr is a super fun place, but their beer is just mediocre... Wait a MINUTE!!! Sounds like a perfect partnership!
@JonT i love me some stone beer! I've been to the Escondido brewery a few times, and they've opened up a new one in liberty station which is also awesome.
Seriously, there are people here I would contemplate hanging out with in person. Send me a private message at the same username on Ello. I mean, technically it's a public message, but it's Ello.
They are in Texas. How can most of people here can go to the meh HQ
@JasonKim They can ride a roomba to there, or cobble together a bunch of helicopter fighting ninjas to take them that way…
@JasonKim Most people can't, but I can.
@JasonKim Didn't they get, like, half a dozen stalkers to the phone holder thingie demo? Some of whom looked like they might have a beer now and then.
@editorkid It's interesting to note that Meh has never tried that again. I think it's safe to thank all of those people for ruining it for the rest of us.
@phatmass Good point. Thanks, @cengland0!
Beer is good. But for Texas, chili would probably be better *
@jsh139 Texas is ranked #20 out of all the states. We need to do better: http://www.thrillist.com/drink/nation/every-state-in-the-usa-ranked-by-its-beer
@phatmass Ooh, Pennsylvania is #8 on the list! Not bad, but still room for improvement.
@jsh139 Weyerbacher is awesome stuff. :D
@jsh139 Mmm, Tröegs, Sly Fox, Victory...
@phatmass NC Beer is the most awesome of awesome beer. California does not belong at 2.
@jsh139 Good ole home. Oregon on top, right where it belongs. Oregon beer best beer.
@RedHot What is your favorite NC Beer?
@jsh139 Chili is great, but you gotta wash it down with something cool.
@Saffer49 Those Widmer Bros do have a lot of really fine products.
@jsh139 Good luck. We've been trying to get @JonT to go to a Chili's for two days now but he refuses.
@jsh139 Going to cook some Chili tonight. Thanks for the dinner idea!
@phatmass "San Diego, which we’re gonna go ahead and deem the most dominating beer city in world history" WOOHOO!
@Mavyn I agree!
@Cinoclav Mmmm, Victory. I used to go to their Downingtown brewery all the time. And I actually have a few leftover Troegs Perpetuals in the fridge ;)
@Moose Isn't he a SoCal guy? He's probably used to taco trucks and real Mexican food. Chili's is like McDonalds to him.
@jsh139 just picked up some Tango. :)
@jsh139 I would hope you hang out at Sly Fox in Pottstown since you're so close. Their pizza is amazingly good.
@Cinoclav I go to the one in Phoenixville all the time ;) Never been to the one in Pottstown.
@jsh139 Go. It's the main brewery. You can do a tour, but there's not that much to see unless you're really, really into brewing.
@Cinoclav yeah, I definitely will. Weird, I lived literally 2 miles from that location for 8 years and never knew it was even there!
@phatmass the problem with Texas beer is the water supply. Otherwise it'd be a great location.

@galmaegi and I have to ask...Have you ever tried anything from Ass Clown in Cornelius?
@RedHot Yup...those hippies in Asheville are very aggressive. They came up to me asking to share left-over food etc. Well, nope, I haven't been to Cornelius area yet. Do I have to own a boat? :p
Rahr Days at meh?
Oh, yeah!
@Kevin totally brewed some beer and sent it to us and it was really good, and definitely higher than the 5% alcohol advertised. The rest of that work day was fun. Thanks again @Kevin!

@JonT I upgraded my brewery set up. Want me to do another documentary thing?
@JonT I'd put California in (my) top seven but not at #2. I'm just drawn to those smokey porters and stouts developed in Colorado, NC, Oregon, and Vermont.
@JonT Community Mosaic IPA can stand up next to any California IPA. It's my favorite local beer. Rahr is a super fun place, but their beer is just mediocre... Wait a MINUTE!!! Sounds like a perfect partnership!
@Kevin Yes, yes I do want you do another one. I still want to vicariously homebrew through you.
@phatmass Agreed about Rahr, they're fine but mostly middle of the road. Community is great and I need to give more of their beers a shot.
@JonT If you guys want, I could take some video and send it over to @matthew via drop box or something if you'd like to turn it into a videocast.
@JonT i love me some stone beer! I've been to the Escondido brewery a few times, and they've opened up a new one in liberty station which is also awesome.
Beer, bacon, butts, Battlestar Galactica
@The_Baron http://www.salon.com/2014/11/19/the_year_of_the_rear_a_thorough_history_of_2014_in_butts/ ?
@Mavyn Uuuuuugh, I can't stand Iggy Azalea or Meghan Trainor.
Can I just work into the conversation that Chicago deserves some serious beer love? I mean, we just had the Festival of Barrel-Aged Beer. We've got over three dozen local breweries keeping it real. There is a Chicago Beer Geeks. Or, if you're more the extended-pinky type, there's the Chicago Beer Society. Imbibe magazine takes us seriously. So get yer butts up here so I can buy you a cold one.
Seriously, there are people here I would contemplate hanging out with in person. Send me a private message at the same username on Ello. I mean, technically it's a public message, but it's Ello.
@editorkid Chicago is an awesome city. All kinds of great things seem to be going on there!
