I’d be afraid to meet the parents who want to name their child Robocop, Scrotum or Facebook. I went to college with someone who named their outdoor cat Scrotum. He rather enjoyed screaming the cat’s name across the neighborhood to get it to come home.

@cinoclav yyeeaaahhhh. I just couldn’t do it, I was sooo embarrassed. I flipped the name/command order. I think the instructor knew so he didn’t give me any trouble.

@blaineg Interesting. I actually knew someone whose first name was “Governor” (he has passed away). I’m guessing he was born before that “no titles” law was passed.
@blaineg also, my ex refused to even consider naming our daughter “3Jane” (from Neuromancer).
@blaineg @curtw4 I’ve known a “Bishop” and a “Major” over the years. And I’ve known an Native American who preferred people call him “Chief.” I guess I’ve had too much sensitivity training because I never felt comfortable calling him that. But I called him that because that’s what he liked.
Oh, and a few guys who went by “Sarge” I don’t think that was their given name though.
And still the parents of every grocery checkout girl with 12” acrylic nails manage to get away with all sorts of arbitrary syllabarbarism. Go figure.
