@Fodder650 Yeah that came up last time “blackout” curtains were offered here (not these). In the question of why they were called that, it’s not to prevent light from getting IN, it was to prevent light from getting OUT of the window, which would show the enemy planes where the town was to bomb. Remember no GPS those days…
@Fodder650@pmarin Fun fact: there is a German town called Konstanz that is right on the Swiss border. During WWII, they kept their lights on at night to make the allied bombers think it was part of Switzerland and thus avoided most damage. Many old buildings, churches, etc. remain intact. Lovely place.
Hmmmmm, the ‘similar’ ones in Amazon this time are over 50% wider (52" compared to 38" here). that seems like a significant difference to be ‘similar’ for price comparison
@TBoneZeOriginal Yes, but quantity is one thing size is another, they are selling 4 that are 38 inches wide and the ones on amazon are 52 inches wide (even if it’s 2 packs of 2). Yes, you are still paying less per inch, but it’s not as much as it looks like if you just compare quantity, was all I was saying.
Not a huge deal, but usually the ‘similar’ products are at least the same size.
@gheldean@TBoneZeOriginal Good catch; I didn’t realise it was a different quantity. Thanks for pointing it out so people don’t get confused by my mistake.
NOT BLACKOUT CURTAINS!!!
These are not blackout curtains but rather “room darkening”. When your wife works nights as a nurse, it makes a difference when she tries to sleep during the day. But what the hell, what are the chances she’ll be taking care of you in the hospital one night after hardly sleeping.
Yeah, not exactly blackout and very stiff. They are also a little smaller than I thought they would be. Length is fine but width is smaller than I believed it was supposed to be. So order the largest, even if you dont think you will need it. But, dont think I would order these again.
If the rods were included I’d buy this, but I think I’m probably too lazy to figure out which curtain rods I need & go buy them. So they’d just sit in the box for a year lol.
OH MY GOD IT’S CURTAINS FOR GLEN!!!
@shahnm I was hoping you’d say that…
@Kyeh How could I not…?
@shahnm If somehow you hadn’t, I would have!
I love these because they are really easy to wash blood out of!
@Num1Zero Do you have any tips? Seems like some always gets stuck between the foam and the cloth.
@Num1Zero @otherstalin
Disposing of blood
The key’s to use protease
Breaks down blood proteins
@Num1Zero so these would be PERFECT for the murder shed!
Blackout curtains are perfect if you are worried about WWII bombers hitting your town.

WTF was wrong with the website??? I couldn’t log in for hours.
@Trinityscrew
According to Irk, something went terribly wrong.
@Trinityscrew Not only was the website down, but I didn’t get the daily email either. I’m eagerly awaiting the OHSHIT Report.
@Trinityscrew @werehatrack Well, it’s meh so of course something went terribly wrong!
Hmmmmm, the ‘similar’ ones in Amazon this time are over 50% wider (52" compared to 38" here). that seems like a significant difference to be ‘similar’ for price comparison
@gheldean They’ve also dropped their price to match this price now.
@FajitaofTreason @gheldean That’s for a 2-pack on Amazon
@FajitaofTreason @TBoneZeOriginal Well, yes it’s a 2 pack * 2 is the price they gave for the ‘similar’
@FajitaofTreason @gheldean Not following. On meh, it’s $39 for 4 curtains. On Amazon, it’s $74 (with coupon) for 4 curtains.
Not understanding how Meh got this wrong. They’re comparing the cost based on the same quantity of curtains.

@gheldean I agree entirely - I was responding to @FajitaofTreason who said Amazon dropped the price to match Meh, which didn’t actually happen.
@gheldean @TBoneZeOriginal Good catch; I didn’t realise it was a different quantity. Thanks for pointing it out so people don’t get confused by my mistake.
I try to blackout Meh every night, but I am addicted to clicking Meh!

If you want to keep light out of a room, you don’t need these.
You need some aluminum foil and some duct tape.

@mike808 Goes with my hat.

What color are the grommets? Stainless steel?
@ronnyd

Can best be likened unto

I hate color matching on computers. The burgundy looks red. Is it red? Is it burgundy? WHO KNOWS?
These smell horrible and took weeks to air out. Definitely not blackout, so not a deal at all for simply darkening curtains.
So it took me 6 months to open the package to put them up and both sets I got are moldy. Severely disappointed.
