@iggy71@medz Wrong. It says “3 emergency devices in 1” so how exactly is a keychain an emergency device while a lighter is not? With your logic, wouldn’t a key be a 2 in 1 key because it also can be on a keyring? That sheet don’t count.
@goldnectar@medz RIF…never said lighter is not part of the package but it is not part of the ONLY 3-in-1 device in the package, hence my comment about the stupid package description…congrats on joining the ranks of the package description. BTW, your “key” statement is hilariously incoherent.
There are 3 pieces that don’t look like they dock together or anything cool like that, so I’d tend to think of it as more like a 3-in-3 device than 3-in-1.
@iggy71 I wouldn’t call keychain a function as much as a form factor. The big bold print says phone charger, flashlight, and lighter, so I’ll stand firm at 3-in-2+1.
You could maybe convince me to go down as far as 3-in-2 if you showed me how I would lose that charger dongle and just have to charge it from another micro USB source. But even still, no one advertises anything as 3-in-2.
@djslack You’r overthinking my comment. The only thing in the package that’s 3-in-one is the charger/flashlight/keychain. You’re entitled to your opinion of my comment though even if you’re wrong. Also, a keychain is a function - it functions to hold your keys together, it doesn’t “form factor” to hold your keys together. Laughable. Again your opinion and again, wrong.
@ruouttaurmind in before someone with a flask says you can buy 4 of each for $20.
I agree with you, having both types of devices. The mixed bag would always be a welcome option. Unfortunately, I’m sure it’s logistically more difficult.
I wish Meh would sell a good-old-fashioned flashlight someday, because I need one, my mom needs one, and ok you know what, I actually need two. There, Meh, I rubbed your nose in THREE potential sales. Give them solid construction, decent battery life, bright LEDs and NO GIMMIX. I just (sob) need a (sniffle) rathafrackin FLASHLIGHT (hoooonk), OK? Thank you.
The world is changing. Google just auto-completed meh to the Wikipedia page for Meghan, Dutchess of Sussex. I need a lighter for my celebratory cigars…
/buy -model lightning
@laurelnev The battery in the device passes current through a high resistance metal coil, making it glow red hot. It works the same way as the cigarette lighters that come in many cars, or like a space heater element, only much smaller. You touch whatever you’re lighting to the hot coil.
@laurelnev@PooltoyWolf Not trying to be a dick, but you are definitely the one that has this backwards. Current (I) equals voltage (E) divided by Resistance ( R). I=E/R. Low resistance is needed for high current, which is what heats up the wire. Too little R and the wire would burn up from the overly high current, so you need a tiny bit of resistance to limit the current and allow the wire (usually something like Kanthal wire) to glow red but not melt. To much resistance and there would not be enough current to make the wire glow. You can look up Kanthal wire or low resistance wire, both of which are used by vape makers to heat up without burning up, allowing for the liquid to be vaporized. I use Kanthal wire in a homemade paracord cutter, as it neatly cuts the cord and melts the ends closed at the same time. I also use it for remote fire starters - wrap some around a few wooden matches, hit the button and up they go. Working on a radio-controlled version for extra special effects for Scout campfires.
@Jonas4321@laurelnev I feel like it can be interpreted both ways. I get my information from a friend who works for a national laser company, and travels the world repairing their power supplies and cooling systems. I’ve also been working with electronics myself since I was a single digit age and am very proficient at this point.
I personally think it rather senseless to get into a technical debate when the poster’s question was answered long ago.
@laurelnev@PooltoyWolf I see your point about interpretation. True, resistance wire (Kanthal, nichrome, etc.) that we are talking about has higher resistance than regular copper wire. So, as wire goes, these are considered “higher” resistance.
Your statement above however is completely incorrect. “Low resistance would simply pass current without heating up. High resistance is what causes heat buildup.” If you put regular wire in place of the resistance wire, assuming the rest of the circuitry could handle high current (which is what would happen with a direct short like that) is that something in the circuit would generate a lot of heat really fast, probably melting something. That something is likely to be the copper wire.
Try this: Put a wrench across the terminals of a car battery. Hang onto that wrench tightly. Ignore the initial spark that occurs when the extremely high current welds the wrench to the battery terminals, because the wrench is a very low resistance short. You might not want to ignore the smell of burning flesh as the word “Snap On” are transferred to your palm from the heat of the really hot wrench.
Senseless technical debate? For the purposes of the OP, sure. Personally, I like learning things I never knew or was wrong about. I assume others do too, but that’s an assumption.
@Jonas4321@laurelnev At the risk of being reprimanded for language, there is absolutely no need to be an ass. Suggesting someone seriously injure themselves because you can’t stand to be wrong is, well, wrong. You know very well the first part of your last message perfectly explained my initial point…it never needed to go further than that.
@laurelnev@PooltoyWolf I LOVE being wrong. I learn something every single time. You are changing the subject to your being a victim of my clearly tongue-in-cheek explanation of how electricity actually works, which you are wrong and need to learn something about.
Sure, I was being an ass, that’s also part of who I am. It has nothing to do with my not wanting to be wrong, it has everything to do with people that don’t take ownership over the fact that they posted something factually incorrect and do everything they can to dodge that reality.
Done posting? Me too.
Did anybody at Meh notice they are using the iPhone in the picture but the device is for older model Androids that still use Micro USB as many newer models have USB-C before posting this?
So either the picture used is from like 2015 and even then it’s wrong or the person who put it together uses an old flip phone.
I wonder how many people bought this solely based on the picture of the iPhone thinking it’ll work on the iPhone?
They’re gonna be disappointed they really did waste money on a hunk of junk that won’t even charged their phone to 15% but hey those in weed legal states will be able to light their blunts with the one light per charge lighter and find the remote under the cough.
@NoImNotNSA@troy I think he meant that the person who did the art is so ignorant of current technology that he still uses a flip phone in his life, not as a photo prop.
One of my 4 is doa. Unfortunately it was the first one I opened so there was a bit of consternation on my part: it took a charge but would not discharge into a phone, nor could I get the light to illuminate.
Turned out that the button is faulty. The other 3 seem fine.
I recommend everyone who ordered to push the button, even through the blister pak of an unopened item, just to make sure it “clicks.” No click means no work and you wouldn’t know until you tried it.
a real piece of jit
@thenewlight you read my mind.
If you have a charged lithium battery, a nail, and a hammer, you don’t need a lighter.
3 in 1? Does that mean it does nothing well?
Maybe if it were 10 for $4, just to give to others so they too can ask, “What the fuck is this piece of shit?”
To the person who ends up getting 900 of these in their next Fuko, we salute you!
They’ll try to sell them in the “Crime Saver” section of MorningSave first, though.
500mah?! And considering that it’s advertising an iPhone 6 at best (and not a 6s), these things probably hailed from 2015.
@narfcake it’s showing an iPhone6 for a device that only fits Androids.
/giphy lol
@NoImNotNSA We’re selling two versions - one for iPhone (works with 5, 6, 7, 8 & 10), and one for Android
3 in 1 that comes in 3 pieces…
@medz The “3 in 1” is the charger/flashlight/keychain. The USB adapter and lighter are not part of the “3 in 1” - stupid package description.
@iggy71 @medz Wrong. It says “3 emergency devices in 1” so how exactly is a keychain an emergency device while a lighter is not? With your logic, wouldn’t a key be a 2 in 1 key because it also can be on a keyring? That sheet don’t count.

USB powered fire starter?
@SkyyPunk
2 of each would be a good option for the Executives that make these options at meh
Ok, not that stubborn.
/giphy crazy-amok-Jupiter
There are 3 pieces that don’t look like they dock together or anything cool like that, so I’d tend to think of it as more like a 3-in-3 device than 3-in-1.
Edit: @medz beat me, but I’m leaving it.
@djslack Maybe 2-in-1+1?
@ruouttaurmind 3-in-2+1 is the best I can do. That’s my final offer…
@djslack The “3 in 1” makes sense only if refers to the charger/flashlight/keychain.
@djslack @iggy71
Maybe that’s why they didn’t sell?
@djslack You’r overthinking my comment. The only thing in the package that’s 3-in-one is the charger/flashlight/keychain. You’re entitled to your opinion of my comment though even if you’re wrong. Also, a keychain is a function - it functions to hold your keys together, it doesn’t “form factor” to hold your keys together. Laughable. Again your opinion and again, wrong.
@rpstrong Should have been called a 5 in 3.
I thought my character on this forum was the blowhard guy.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It would have been nice to have a mixed pack option. 2 Lightning and 2 microUSB.
@ruouttaurmind in before someone with a flask says you can buy 4 of each for $20.
I agree with you, having both types of devices. The mixed bag would always be a welcome option. Unfortunately, I’m sure it’s logistically more difficult.

Eww. Kind of a nasty product name. Does it come with a bag? You know, a jit bag?
Ugh. A new low?
Vmp to the rescue
These things recharge so they can be used again, could power a USB fan, etc.
@radi0j0hn yes
Um I kinda wanna buy more now
This is probably better than nothing, but nothing is easier to carry.
My S8 and S9+ would actually end up charging this thing if they were usb-c
The world is changing. Google just auto-completed meh to the Wikipedia page for Meghan, Dutchess of Sussex. I need a lighter for my celebratory cigars…

@accumulator Sorry, this deal contains 2 unique items and I’m not sure which one you want. You can review how to pick one, or just try ordering from the checkout page.
Those lighter attachments sound like an untapped market
I doubt I could pack this and bring it on an airplane.
But, can I bring a standard portable charger on an airplane?
@JT954 Yes, you can.
@JT954 Btw, you can bring them in your carry on but you’re not supposed to put them in checked luggage.
@JT954 I have that exact charger in purple.
@JT954 @sammydog01 Me too! Because purple?
@JT954 @sammydog01 @narfcake Me too. Also in purple. From the first kickstarter Fuko.
@Bingo @JT954 @narfcake I expect it was more like no one wanted purple so they were cheaper.
I wonder how those lighter thingies work? Could be a good solution for cars that no longer come with lighters if I could picture how it worked…
@laurelnev The battery in the device passes current through a high resistance metal coil, making it glow red hot. It works the same way as the cigarette lighters that come in many cars, or like a space heater element, only much smaller. You touch whatever you’re lighting to the hot coil.
@laurelnev @PooltoyWolf Low resistance metal wire. Not high resistance.
@Jonas4321 @laurelnev I do believe you have it backwards, sir
Low resistance would simply pass current without heating up. High resistance is what causes heat buildup.

If I could have just pitched it in a landfill I would have bought some. But I got to recharge these damn things.
I love seeing my Meh back. While everyone is moving to USB-C, Meh sells the outdated Micro USB.
Maybe Meh will come back all the way and sell a Micro-B USB speaker dock tomorrow.
@hchavers That would be nice, we can never have enough @sohmageek.

Fireworks season coming up soon …
Don’t even need an open flame …
(just musin’ …)
@phendrick Do you really wana sit there waiting for the thing to light the fuses while you’re sitting there hoping that it’s hot enough?
@Seeds I live dangerously – just ask the stasi, er, I mean, fire department people trying to catch me crossing the city limits with the goods.
The meh button needs to be replaced with a derp button.
Did anybody at Meh notice they are using the iPhone in the picture but the device is for older model Androids that still use Micro USB as many newer models have USB-C before posting this?

@NoImNotNSA the iPhone version has a lightning connector, which works with iPhone 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10. Not seeing this flip phone you speak of!
@NoImNotNSA @troy I think he meant that the person who did the art is so ignorant of current technology that he still uses a flip phone in his life, not as a photo prop.
@NoImNotNSA @rpstrong Ah yes, you’re correct – and that’s why I shouldn’t try to read before my morning joe!

I switched to vaping in 2011. I don’t carry a lighter or matches anymore and I don’t smoke weed. Don’t have the lighter for my car- that hole’s been appropriated for USB crap. It will go next to my Meh keychain fob.
