Not long enough to speak on the battery life but my son played around with one most of the night and it was still going strong. I just looked at Amazon reviews and see that most of the negative ones are about battery life. It reminded me that my brother had one of these types of lighters and his stopped working but the one his girlfriend had continued to work fine. It turns out my brother was using the same charger he used for his phone to charge it instead of the charger that came with his lighter. He figured they look the same and it fit, so it should be okay. It ruined his lighter. Iām betting a lot of those Amazon reviewers did the same thing, out of convenience, and ended up with a useless lighter. Just a thought. I think the lighters are really nice and are an excellent price. They were $19 for two on Morningsave. Iād take a chance.

I have a fascination with plasma lighters in general, and I really want to buy these because of the attractive blue finish and dual arcs, but the bevy of poor Amazon reviews with respect to terrible battery life has me dissuaded. A shame because these look a lot cooler than the flat gray one I have now! I do also have a stick lighter equivalent with an open arc, used to light candles and incense, but itās not as compact as this one is.

Almost forgot! Are they useful for lighting esoteric smoking devices like those used to, say, smokecrackor meth? Or even light a hooka.

And then, only easily burned things like sayā¦cigarette paper. As an example, recently tried to use one to light the wick on a kerosene heater without success. I had to light a piece of tissue and then use that to light the wick. A match or lighter would have lit the wick instantly.

Besides lighting whatever you might be smoking, these lighters are good for lighting fireworks, melting paracord ends, lighting candles, paper, etc. They arenāt going to do everything a regular lighter can do, but they are still useful and also look pretty cool!
I bought a knockoff on eBay for $5. Iām not a smoker so I donāt know how well they work for cigarettes. It lights incense just fine. I ended up returning it because the finish was badly damaged and they didnāt want to give a discount. The lid doesnāt open wide enough to light a candle.
I never bought another one because it didnāt seem practical to me after the fact. I have a Zippo if I ever plan on going camping and need something resistant to the wind. I donāt keep it filled because the fuel evaporates. I donāt light it enough for it to be useful. Otherwise I have one of those longer BBQ/candle lighters. I donāt have to worry about it being uncharged, itās easy to fill.
I was tempted to buy the plasma candle lighter style, but I think I just talked myself out of it again.
@RiotDemon - I too got myself a nice Zippo back in the day, but had your exact problem with the fuel. I tried carrying matches for a while, but the SaberLight is just easier to deal with. The trick is to use it to light a twist of paper when you need to light, say, a can of sterno or something like that. The arc takes a little while longer to ignite something than a match would, but itās more reliable - and looks so cool!
If i go on a Northern camping trip and get stuck in a cave that has been sealed by an avalanche, would I be able to use these to ignite my hair for warmth until Spring?
Iāve checked 3 of 4, and 1 is DOA. Meh said to talk to the manufacterer who said to replace it itās basically going to cost what this ādealā cost. Meh really screwed me on this one.
