@RiotDemon seriously! If these were like, 3x the size, I’d buy them. I guess I could just fill all 3 and carry them around but that’s way too much plastic to lug
@RiotDemon … and even better, it would then require 6x AAA batteries instead if 3x. Better the chance to use up that monster case of AAAs we just bought here at Meh!
@lowlypeon Just went to the 5 below website, 0 items found under igloo, yew stuff, yew. and when searched water bottle items came up but not even an off brand. You sure it was five below, and was it igloo yew stuff brand. Thanks
@lowlypeon@radar5 The base that holds the batteries can only be wiped down, the cylinder that holds the liquid has to be hand washed, and the lid is top rack dishwasher safe. According to the website.
@PhysAssist oof. I had a little kid dressed as the hulk punch me when I bent down to give him candy. His parents were at the bottom of the driveway and were absolutely shocked. Luckily he was tiny. Still hurt my jaw though.
I had a 14 year old whack me with his candy bag on the side of my head while his mom, who I knew, watched. She just told him to apologize. She didn’t even sound angry. I would of had him by the ear.
I had a 18-20 year old threaten to punch me if I scared him. My friend told him he needed to stop trick or treating if he was so scared he would punch people.
@PhysAssist@RiotDemon Ummm, what were you dressed as? Must have been pretty good. I had a girl go almost catatonic at a college party many years ago. I had to take her to the side and show her who I was before she’d calm down. I was a little more sensitive how I dressed up after that.
@mehcuda67 grim reaper. The outfit didn’t have any wings when the kids punched me. I had a different mask that I actually glued to my face so it moved with my jaw super well.
@RiotDemon Impressive!! That’s good for at least a couple of nightmares! The costume that made the girl at the party freak out was also a “death” costume, but it was all black and had a deep hood. I had completely encased myself in a layer of black underneath it, knowing that a few people would try to peek under the hood or up my sleeves, etc. Most people who peeked just jumped back and started laughing. When this girl looked underneath, there was nothing there, and she completely melted down. Her friends came to get her, and when I approached to calm her down, she screamed “Keep him away from me!” I finally put down the scythe and loosened my under mask so she could see who I was. Then she punched me in the arm…
@mehcuda67 haha, that sounds awesome. For a couple of years I did have the hood that was just black mesh. My mask has that over the eyes but occasionally I’ll get someone that comes really close and they comment that they can see my eyes. Sometimes I’ll close my eyes when they are coming close. I’ll also close them for flash photos.
I almost went back to the glue on type mask, but then I’d have to wear colored contacts the whole night, I think.
I’ve had a coworker’s daughter come by several years in a row, and even though she knew it was me, she was absolutely terrified. Like running down the street terrified. One year she stayed in the car and her parents asked me to go say hello. She was on her phone, so not paying attention. The dad used the remote to roll down the windows. I thought she was going to pee her pants. She tried to crawl out the window.
Your costume reminds me of:
/giphy ringwraith
One day, I’ll own a Friesian horse and I will dress up like them.
Also, 2nd most asked question of the evening, “what are you?”
@RiotDemon Wow, you really take it to the next level. The story about the coworker’s daughter is great. I’m definitely the dad who’d roll down the windows, too. I’m surprised my kids grew up even remotely well-adjusted. (Though they both have a very twisted sense of humor.)
The ringwraith is very close. The main difference is that I had the sleeves a little longer to conceal black gloves and the hood was a little deeper. Instead of mesh, I used a very lightweight black cloth over my eyes. Definitely effect over practicality, as the room was dimly lit to start with and it took a while for my eyes to adjust.
If you get a horse, you win permanently!
@mehcuda67 I might be in retirement by the time I can afford a horse again, lol. It’s my lifelong dream to own a Friesian. They are just so beautiful.

I think it’s good to have a messed up sense of humor
@mehcuda67@RiotDemon I agree, and an appreciation for Halloween, is good too.
In college, I had a pair of cut-off jean shorts that had a faux fur covering, along with cuffs and anklets, that and a black full-head demon-ape mask [think biggish white horns at temples and both sides of lower jaw], that was it, except for flat black body make-up and black greasepaint on my eyelids, which were the only part of my face that showed.
In college, between ages 18 & 21, I was skinny &. ripped- after 4 years of high school wrestling & cross-country, then swimming, soccer, and rugby in college.
I was scary-looking & acted the part to the hilt… several otherwise friendly dorm-mates ran screaming.
I was threatened a few times, but no actual violence occurred.
@mfladd haha. I’m surprised that no one has tried to smash my nonexistent balls. Most people think I’m a guy because I don’t talk at all while in costume.
Perfect to send to my grandson, three states away. I love to send surprise gift packages every couple months. Even if they are at 5 Below, this includes the free shipping, so I’m in. Thanks, meh! You light up my life!
Boo hoo. I had internet issues and now that I can use the Internet they are out of the sea creatures. I really wanted the shark and dolphin. No interest at all in what’s left. Wish they held some back for VMP members. We need more member benefits. Still waiting for my refund from the failed light up spinners.
Mehpropos?
@RedOak Good word for the The Mehtionary
If only these were bigger and we could pick which designs.
@RiotDemon seriously! If these were like, 3x the size, I’d buy them. I guess I could just fill all 3 and carry them around but that’s way too much plastic to lug
@RiotDemon Yew Stuff does(did?) sell a 24oz bottle in the same kind of style, maybe we’ll see those in a few weeks.
@tmilker thanks.

I just got two of these from 5 Below for my girls. They love them. The bottles are surprisingly of a good quality.
@lowlypeon
So at three for 15$ this isnt quite as good of a deal as normal. 6 for 15$ would make it.
@lowlypeon same patterns?
@RiotDemon Exact. One got the shark, other got the mermaid.
@lowlypeon thanks! I’m going to have a peek. I’d buy an individual bottle for $5.

@lowlypeon What are the washing instructions on them? If I can’t throw it in the top rack of the diswasher, i’m usually meh.

@PhysAssist WTF?
@PhysAssist That’s the problem with the fight or flight reflex, you never know what you’re going to get.

Last few years I had this version.

@yeppers They’re not big enough to be useful for me, the giphy is what came up.
@blaineg Funny how this thread took a conversational turn after your comment…

@PhysAssist Sure, give me all the blame^H^H^H^H^Hcredit.
@PhysAssist that sounds fun. I wish more people dressed up. I get immense joy when the adults get scared.

@shahnm yeah, /image doesn’t get a different one like /giphy when you edit.

@shahnm I edited that to a giphy, because it felt like we were accidentally creeping on whoever that person is.
@Thumperchick She was the firm ruby peacock. Please try to keep up.

Yew got a bright idea there!
/image limber-naughty-cooler
Seems that something which needs to be washed on a regular basis, may not necessarily be the best thing to make battery operated.
Hope those who want this bought the AAA Lucas batteries the other day.
@ciabelle You don’t wash your batteries? – just put them in your refrigerator dirty?
@ciabelle The base which houses the lights and batteries detaches for washing.
@ciabelle @lowlypeon Then how do you wash the rest of it?
/giphy confusing-pressed-bell
Oh my. I do apologize to our more sensitive or easily offended members.
@spavlis You can hit Edit and Save to get a different image at (sort of) random. (Within the 5 minute edit limit.)
I gave up on one a day or two ago because it seemed to be cycling between four “what the heck?” images.
@spavlis What about the image could be offensive? That Texas Tech was beating the crap out of Texas?
