@accumulator@sgrenald Did you both check the battery compartment? I seem to recall someone saying previously that there was a tab in there that had to be pulled for the batteries to make contact.
@cinoclav@sgrenald Thank you kindly stranger! as it turns out, there was a little paper disk keeping the battery from making contact - and it’s great to know that it’s actually just a completely replaceable 18650 battery. None of that was mentioned in the instructions, of course…
@accumulator@cinoclav@sgrenald I can’t seem to figure out how to get to the battery compartment. Everything appears sealed to me. Thank you in advance.
@cinoclav@deemkooo@sgrenald the top part of the lantern - where the clip is - unscrews. Just twist that whole part. Inside you’ll find a little cleaning brush, and in the center is a plastic nub that sticks up - it’s just slightly larger than the diameter of an 18650 battery. Unscrew that, remove the paper tab, and Bob’s your uncle.

Got one of these. The battery was DOA. But it does work as a bug zapper when plugged into an external USB power supply.
@accumulator I got two of these the last time around. Dead batteries in both. Or no batteries.

@accumulator So glad I could help! I know how frustrating it is when a good deal seemingly turns bad.

@accumulator @cinoclav @sgrenald Thank you so much!!
Light attract moths. Carbon dioxide and heat attracts mosquitos. These things kill the wrong bugs.
