Got these before, they suck. They are uncomfortable, and the music leaks out to disturb people around you. Plus the memory foam makes you really hot, even in frigid plane temps.
I knew a guy in high school that disappeared for a few days one summer. Turns out he acquired a big bottle of melatonin from GNC, thought it would give him a tan and took a bunch of them. He slept for almost three days straight.
Like for example, for those who have batteries as well as a refrigerator, I at other times wonder how such individuals might utilize one to attempt to maximize the freshness of the other.
@jewelshound & @Twiminy the active ingredient is diphenhydramine. You can buy a 1000 capsules of 50 mg bottle online for less than $20.00. How do I know you ask - I use it myself. Makes you very drowsy in the morning though.
I only take ~12mg diphenhydramine at a time, so I buy the 600 count 25mg tabs at Costco for about 4 bucks. Works great for me in combination with 3mg melatonin.
I got one of these a while ago. It’s better than I expected in some ways…worse in others. If you sleep on your back it’s quite comfortable. If you sleep on your side don’t bother - the battery/speaker boxes will smash against your ears and it’s not very comfortable. Mine seems to only last up to 6hrs. If it died, no big deal…but instead when it is about to die it starts beeping. Nothing like sudden beeping in your ear 6hrs into sleeping
Most comfortable eye mask i’ve used. Its awesome. Speaker is not loud at all but is perfect for nature sounds like rain or the ocean when going to sleep.
“These Gabba Goods Bluetooth” It’s GABA, just one “B”,
gamma-Aminobutyric acid. As I tell my student’s, it is a neurotransmitter that is somewhat like Valium or other benzodiazepines (though with a lot less ooomph than the pills we get from our friendly pharmacist). Well, that was 15 seconds of my life I’ll never get back.
One person says they’re uncomfortable and another says they’re comfortable. I’m ready to buy, but I don’t want something hot on my face when I try to sleep. How are these if you don’t use the bluetooth and want to use them to block out light?
My hearing is getting pretty bad. Too bad my old car doesn’t have Bluetooth. Or these would be perfect for driving and listening to NPR. Of course, it’s not as good without Charlie Rose, Tavis Smiley, Garrison Keilor, … Whatever happened to them, anyway?
Definitely avoid if you are a side sleeper, if these are like the ones I ordered last time there is little to no padding on the speakers and they are just a hard rectangle of plastic that will dig into your ear like no other. It can also press the buttons on the other side skipping through whatever you are listening to or randomly calling the last person in your call history.
I picked one 2 pack in black and it showed to be $12…so I got another 2 pack in pink for a total of $24…at this point I’m not sure if I’m getting 2 or 4 mask…hopefuly 4.
Digging through reviews (Which is harder than I thought, I wish I could find more. They’re spread out over many models), it seems there’s an LED on the side which might mean your partner might be slightly annoyed.
I use Bedphones, and even with the long warranty, I have to replace them pretty often. You spend 1/3 of your day with these things on. They’re going to get abused even if you try to be gentle.
I have one of thes. I tried to use the Bluetooth function once at a hotel and I ended up freaking out my mom by accidentally dialing her somehow through the buttons on the mask at 2am
I picked this up and have been trying it the last few nights. I can’t speak to the battery yet but it lasted 2 nights worth of Netflix listening with a less than one hour charge time out of the box. I’ve just fully charged it as of last night. Bonus: it will charge and play at the same time.
These aren’t the most comfortable things for side sleepers, and the mask isn’t the most breathable but I’m not waking up drenched in sweat like I have with other masks, however I can say this…
These speakers are way better than $12 speakers have any right to be. They have incredible sound separation (AKA “soundstage”) of instruments where to the ears it sounds like each voice in the song is coming from a different spatial location (sounding physically higher, lower, further forward, or behind other instruments in the mix). It doesn’t sound tinny and I was surprised that these have as much bass as they do.
I wish I could get a pair that were a bluetooth headset from this company because they sound that good. I have no issues with recommending this, even as a side sleeper.
Unisom sleeptabs. Not just Unisom. Gotta get the sleeptabs. Active ingredient doxylamine succinate. That’s the stuff from NyQuil. Don’t try to pass the diphenhydramine zzzquil garbage off on me. That stuff will make you schizy.
And stay the hell away from Ambien. Oh, you’ll sleep. But use it long enough and some unfortunate stuff will happen. Trust me. You’ll have some explainin to do eventually. You’ll have good stories but yeah, stay the hell away from it.
@nayrreirg get your doctor to write you a prescription for ‘sonata’ the halflife is ~1hr perfect so zero drowsy effect when you wake up. which means great for flights etc.
I bought a pair of these for my wife the last time they were offered. She loves them. They don’t hold a charge for very long, so you’ll have to recharge them every day. But, she sleeps with them on every night.

@Jamileigh17 So if I’m already a hot guy I will be even hotter? Nice… They don’t suck that bad after all!
Perfect for when you want to pretend you’re Geordi LaForge with the 10 hours ambient Enterprise noise loop from YouTube.

Sometimes I get to wondering if two individually useful items become less useful when combined into one silly item. This is one of those times.
@shahnm Only sometimes?
@mike808 Yes. Other times I wonder other things.
Like for example, for those who have batteries as well as a refrigerator, I at other times wonder how such individuals might utilize one to attempt to maximize the freshness of the other.

This is another instance of Why Twofer? I might consider spending $12 on this, but never $24.
@gertiestn exactly! Why two? Yeesh.
@moonhat Found the single guys!
@gertiestn yeah. I was down with 12 but I can’t rationalize $24+
@cengland0 please tell me that is you
@sp3ar Nope.
The other thing about ZzzQuil is that it’s the same ingredient as Benadryl, which is cheaper.
@Twiminy It is an antihistamine and probably Benadryl or an analog.

You know, there was a study linking diphenhydramine use and dementia I think.
Zzz wake me up when these are $1 each…zzzz…
These are really meh VR goggles.

@SkyyPunk thank you! Those are the two things I was worried about.
This item is so silly, in fact, that I won’t even make room for it in my refrigerator - batteries be damned!

@JT954 a good sleep mask is cheaper if that’s all you want. I bought some from here a while back, I think. Hope they bring them back.
Subtle Ambien walrus reference in the writeup.

@phendrick do you always drive with a blindfold?

Wut?
@jmhsrv came here to say the same thing. I’m not entirely surprised these ended up on a deals website.
He puts this shit up just to upset me.

@nltownsend843 just 2 total.

@TheChrisGlass i have a pair of these, the light isn’t bright at all but the audio can definitely be heard by the person next to you.
Well their condition is new, not refurb, so there’s that. (No others’ sweat stink)
Why two masks? So one can play Zorro and the other play Lone Ranger, of course.
Sleeping on planes is for novices, I can sleep while driving down the interstate.
@texmarc Hmm. I sense narcolepsy and s huge freeway pileup in the near future.

@nayrreirg True!
Did no one else first look at the description and think, “why are they playing music in my eyes?”
They in stereo?
I bought a pair of these for my wife the last time they were offered. She loves them. They don’t hold a charge for very long, so you’ll have to recharge them every day. But, she sleeps with them on every night.
I’m reading the features on the box and…Wait, what?
Why would you be listening to roughly six hours of music, or do hands free calling while you’re asleep?
@pixelated Sleep as Android app for me.
I’m just wondering how many people have the Allman Brothers stuck in their head this morning. Thanks a lot.
@avedum I just read your comment and thought “wait how did they know that…”
THANK YOU. I was wondering where that came from all morning.
Is there a way to pipe noise cancellation thru those BT headphones? That would be useful. As is, meh!

this sucks on so many levels…
