A Meh-rathon of Sweet Meh-mories

Why aren’t we giving you more info? Well, we weren’t sure what to write for the Meh-rathon so we decided to look at some past Meh write-ups for inspiration. (You can find a random one here, if you want.) Unfortunately, all that did was make us nostalgic and maybe a little teary-eyed. And then the boss was all “Where’s the write-ups, writer dude?” and we panicked and… uhh… Please enjoy this classic write-up about an entirely different product! Also, feel free to share in the forum if you find one you liked or forgot about or missed entirely.

But friends, this is America! Where everything is online and costs no money! Which is why I didn’t buy the eGo Audiobooks set the last time we sold it. Instead, I found versions of many of the same books for FREE.

The audio quality on the ones I downloaded is… uh… not great. And the performances are pretty weak. But actually more concerning is the content. I fear that, with some of them, the readers are just making things up as they go. So, if you don’t mind, I’d like to use this space to ask a few questions concerning the plots of the books I’ve been listening to, and you can tell me in the comments if they sound right. Again, these are the ones I got for free, not the ones in this set.

1. Is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne the story of an underwater society that’s overcrowded with professional sports franchises?

2. Is Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad about the cardiology unit of a small hospital dealing with a terrible power outage?

3. Does A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift tell the story of a man trying to marry his longtime girlfriend, while remaining unforthcoming about his many achievements?

4. Is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas written in the form of a catering order?

5. In Call Of The Wild by Jack London, is the protagonist an amateur hockey player from outside Minneapolis who finally gets called up to play with the local pro team?

6. Is The Turn of The Screw by Henry James a guide to putting together a desk?

7. In The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, is the narrator frustrated because he wants to find an image of the kind of car they used in Back To The Future but he can’t remember how to spell the it (and also he wants it to be a certain color)?

8. Is When the World Screamed by Arthur Conan Doyle literally just nothing but someone screaming for hours on end?

You know, the more I think about it, the more it seems like a good idea to just buy this eGo audiobook set…
